Why is everyone making a fuss about the irish when they all take mick out ov rednecks? im a redneck using a stick as a keyboard and a book for the pad. its a lot more efficient with electrixity, even if nothing happens

I went to Ireland and from what I saw they were WAY behind on technology. 125EU for a cheap ass microwave, are you kidding me? Broadband was new technology and looked to be only for businesses.

Forgive me irish people but I`m just saying what I saw.

We have seriously thick walls, if we cut a hole in the wall for a TV like that it wouldn`t even go through & still look flat screen flush!

I don`t need a reason to be just as stupid as many of the other people posting on this forum...

The fact that a comment as stupid as "Everyone knows that the Irish are smarter than Americans.." went unchallenged for so long cracked me up.

...and nfnfnf, I know you`re a newb to this forum, but jumping on a typo is generally considered lame...just fyi.

I think it had to do with thrift, as the Irish were immigrants to this country and for a long period of time had to improvise in ways such as this, and for that reason, it could have been prefaced with "Jewish" or even ghetto. It was an historical reference, not a sub-racial one, and I`d appreciate it if all you Irishmen who are defending your people`s intelligence didn`t prove this gentleman right be neglecting to notice that the point of this reference was to nod at your resourcefulness!

Sorry for repost, but also look at the size of the TV in both images...the top one is clearly almost twice as long!!

Oh and one last thing...you really think a TV of that sixe (in picture 1) will be designed with a back that big?? It`s obviosuly an actual plasma/TFT/Tomato Juice FLAT SCREEN TV.

Male 1,270
Lets get back on topic of the *fake* TV pictures before we start another World War of who`s smarter, etc...

The picture is clearly 2 seperate images which have been put together, and your mind is filling in the rest. The top image shows the TV about 2 or 3 feet away from the back wall, yet the bottom image shows it about 6 inches away...
Also the door in picture 2 should be clearly visible in picture 1 beacuse of the shortness of the wall...just look at it!!

just thought i should comment as some people seem to think that whole nations can be rednecks (not just the irish but ppl have mentioned eastern europe too) It`s unfair to presume one country is completely "redneck" as you like to call them. Sure you`ll find some in ireland, you`ll find drunks and druggies too. name one country that you won`t find them in?? You`ll also find some of the friendliest and proud people on the planet. Unfortunately this seems to have been overlooked.

And you`re basing this argument on what now? Where in Europe are you from anyway? Do you not find it funny that when American compinies come to Europe they usually chose Ireland as the country to base their company in because of its highly educated, English speaking workforce and continue to stay here even with the high costs of running a company in Ireland?

even if they aren`t the same tv (but the top pic has some edging on the left that may be the start of a doorway) there`s still a tv sticking out of a wall. So whether or not the first one is the finished product, someone still did it.

Pid- there are two doors in the second picture. One door probably leads to the hallway, the other leads to an adjacent room- but you cannot see that door in the first picture, but there is more than enough space, that door should be there.

To those saying that it`s 2 tv`s because of the door, no. Front of the tv is in 1 room. The back half is in another. (Duh) But the door is on a completely different wall, leading into a completely different room and thus would not show in the first picture.
Come to think of it it`s not that cheap. It`s clever at first but extremely stupid in the long run.

I`m 75% Irish. Just thought I`d throw that in.

"i dont mind pep saying that the tv idea is cheap and maybe even a little stupid.yes thats de-value the house by causing unrepairable structural damage."

Its actually not hard to patch up. A couple of sheets of sheetrock, a couple two by fours, some mesh tape, and spackle, and i`d have that hole fixed in a short afternoon. let the spackle dry a day, sand it down, apply a new coat, repeat, and then it can be painted over and noone will have a clue a huge gaping hole was cut out for a tv.

Its actually very easy to do, even for someone who`s never done the work before.

Seriously.. its just a wall. Not like you are trying to do some precision work on an engine.

Someone already said that that isn`t the same tv, and it looks like its right. If you look, to the right of the second picture, there`s a door leading somewhere, but on the first picture, there`s plenty of space, and no door.

The walls perpendicular to the wall with a huge ass tv in it also don`t seem to match up properly, but I could see it where one room extends beyond the other.

Other than that, this is probably a really bad idea. Unless you built the house yourself, cutting into the wall like that- you`ve got no idea what`s back there. You could be cutting into wires or pipes, which you would then have to repair and reroute. You`d have to build additional support for the tv, and the section of wall you removed, because you just took out 3 or 4 wood studs.

You`d also have to cut space for a tuner, media player of some kind, and any video games if you wanted them.

i wouldnt say it was that stupid.

Lets face it if you buy a flat screen, your gona have wires, unless you spend time channling out the wall.

This way you just slide it into place....

I actually saw it done in a house before flatscreens where so cheap (when they where about 5000 each) and they put a TV into the fireplace like that, worked really well.

With prices dropping by the day on flatscreens tho, its easier just to buy one.
