Why was the last game in each sequence an in-game cutscene in a PS3 game? That`s the evolution of videogames--that we watch them instead of play them?

Wow.. today`s graphics are so much better than 500 billion years ago, or however long ago that was!

If there is anything this clip did right, it was to NOT show Halo in it. Halo is not all that revolutionary, nor all that good, so it being out was an obvious choice....strange about Goldeneye not being there though.

yeah, what`s with the cut scenes? that only has to do with eye candy and not video games... it`s kind of a cop-out.

i prefer a lot of those games` older versions to their 3d counterparts, like for star wars game... the 2d platformer one was better... and for mario, none of those games have evolved to be better than each other... they`re all still soo much fun to play... i borrowed my friend`s original nintendo and played mario 3 for a while last year and was so into it just like i would`ve been back in the day... we haven`t really exceeded the entertainment value of 2d graphics, which is funny, since everything is all about the 3d graphics these days... as apposed to good ol` fun.

"Wolfenstein 3D wasn`t the first first person shooter, it was Catacomb Abyss."

That game kicked ass, but I had no idea it was first.

This is really cool. But no evolution of pong? I would have thought that would have been the most obvious one, what with the original pong, up to the new one on the Xbox 360 by Rockstar? Anyway, I really should play more first person shooters! This thing reminded me how cool they are. Call of Duty 3 and Red Steel on the Wii anyone?

Wolfenstein 3D, Jedi Knight and Comand & Conquer really brought back memories - I remember a time when I started playing a skirmish game in C&C Red Alert around 10 P.M. (right after dinner) and I only stopped when my mom came in my bedroom to wake me up for school at 7 AM! Good times... lol :p

If the cut-scene parts were real games only atomic super-computers would be able to play with such a graphic. And omg I want so much to go back to 1970 to show the people there this movie... damn they would faint...

as always, I gotta say it.... Wolfenstein 3D wasn`t the first first person shooter, it was Catacomb Abyss. But since only a handful of people played Catacomb Abyss, all the books give Wolf3d credit for being the first. [historian mode OFF]

I loved it but with all other genres but, how on earth they could have done the “evolution” of fighting games without putting Mortal Kombat in there. Mortal Kombat is one of if not the greatest fighting games ever.

Being the huge video game nerd that I am and being raised with a father who`s had every system known to man till the Gamecube came out, I feel REALLY nerdy knowing almost every game in the video... But they needed more games that showed blood and gore... Where`d the adventure section go?

They did skip a lot of games in each genre...but it was still pretty cool.

It`s crazy how realistic some of the graphics are now, be they in-game or otherwise. I remember when the PS1 came out and everyone oohed and ahhed over it.

*feels old...and slightly nerdy*

^That was one of the Super Star Wars trilogy games on SNES, couldnt tell you which one. And the best game up there, to respond to the Mario 64 comment, was Doom, period. There has never been a shooter to improve on Doom, just games that came really damn close to being AS good. And most of the other games up there are actually very craptastic, of course disregarding the MUCH older games from the Atari and the like. I also wondered about RPGs, and why they did not have Tekken, Soul Calibur, or Mortal Kombat in fighting games, or any good REAL fighting game for that matter, but for some odd reason they had a clip of The Matrix: PON spliced in.

Excellent! Very nostalgic. I still have just as much fun playing Donkey Kong as I do playing Fable.

However, in terms of evolution, the video game industry has done very little to correctly target women. I`d like to see some evolution in that area. :o)

For anyone who wants to try out some Classic Video Games.

It would have been better had they used in game footage of the more recent titles. Sure, it shows the progress of graphics, but the others were more focused on gameplay. And that Killzone one wasn`t in game footage, even though it looked like it.
