This is actually funny. Just wait until his parents aren`t there to support him and his addictions anymore. ROFL! He needs to have the real world slammed into his face.
"I dont want to live like this anymore." ~Mom
IF SHE DOESNT WANT TO LIVE LIKE THAT ANYMORE, THEN KICK HIS ASS ALL THE WAY TO NEW GINUEA!! YOUR THE MOM! YOUR THE BOSS! TAKE SOME ACTION FOR F***S SAKES!! SERUISLY!! EITHER THAT OR TAKE A BOMB AND BLOW THE S*** OUT OF THAT COMPUTER!! ITS YOYR DISICION!!! YOU PUT YOURSELF IN HELL! GET YOURSELF OUT!!!! GOD!!!!
AND THAT KID NEEDS TO GET BACK TO SCHOOL!! SERUISLY! HE NEEDS A LIFE! PLAYING Wow ISNT GUNNA SOLVE LIFES PROBLEMS! IF ANYTHING, ITLL MAKE THEM WORSE!! SO GET YOUR ASS OF THAT SEAT AND GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And FRANCESUX, shut up!
I PLAYED WARCRAFT 3 AND WAS BADASS AT IT BUT I HAVEN`T PLAYED IN OVER 3 YEARS. NEVER TRIED WOW
MY ONLY ADDICTION TO SAY IS IAB...
Retard me. Of course he enjoys playing the game.
And I was just talking about how dumb people are too...I suppose I fall into that category also.
About that Mother...all she has to do is pull the plug, basically. Like everyone else said. If he doesn`t have a job, he obviously isn`t paying for the subscription. So his Mom must be. All she`d have to do is cancel it. Ugh, this is what I`ve been talking about with MY Mom! People these days in the US are getting dumber with each passing minute. It`s really sad. You think people`d have more common sense nowadays.
Do I regret it? No. Was it an addiction? Temporarily. MY GAMES ENDED - they had levels. Was it an illness? NO.
Is this boy`s SIXTEEN hours daily for MONTHS an illness? YES!!
BTW: I`ve never heard of World Warcraft.
And for those who think it`s the mother`s fault...
1) HAHA YOU IDIOTS!
2) She`s probably not paying for it nor is she technologically knowledgeable to stop him from playing. Some people don`t even know how to use the internet, nevermind get rid of it. You probably are comparing this woman to your own mother - some overpowering, supreme, jugganaught of a woman who controls everything that goes on in the household. This just isn`t the case. No one would make a news program about person in a dilemma with the exact means and knowledge of how to solve it.
But put it this way. Who`s addicted? The kid. SO IT`S HIS GOD DAMNED FAULT!
There are plenty, if not a large majority of people who play WoW or other MMOs and lead perfectly normal lives. Ofcourse doing a news segement on "This is bob, hes perfectly normal" isnt as sensetionalist as "This is tim, HE plays a game for 40 hours a day, and has food being fed to him by his ass"
i ripped the plug out of the wall.. then bent the pins in the plug.. then deleted all of her files (when she plugged it bak in).. :D the best day of my life.. even her mum was thankfull:D..
sori 4 all those ppl that were thinkin dat was gunna b a heart warming story :/
his violent attitude is related to his personality, and not specifically the game. i think there`s a strong hint of video-games-cause--violence propaganda here.
Personally, I think the kid needs to get off his ass and go benefit society. He`s the one who needs to learn self control. It isn`t his mom`s responsibility.
How about saying something more constructive to the conversation.
If your kid gets addicted to cigarettes and you want him to quit, do you cry on Television him for seeing them or for you for LETTING him do it?
And video gaming is sin! You kill the people and they resurrect and fight you again, only to be repeatedly killed! WHO COULD DEFILE GOD LIKE THIS!?
Geez, all most people are saying is that this kid is screwed up, but other WoW players see that as an insult to them too and start ranting. Who`s narrow minded now eh?
Something to the affect of Alcholics Anymous needs to be created for MMORPG players who are seriously addicted like that.
And why are people sticking up for this guy? Should a hobby make you put your fist through the wall? And when a kid can do that then the mother wouldn`t be able to take WoW away without being behind the full brunt of the fist herself with this guy`s temper.
This "hobby" has blasted waaay out of all proportions. He talks all day to people he`ll never meet, gets angry when he dies (and if you can`t take that, you shouldn`t be playing) and has dropped out of school.
And on a final note, this news program did some apparent "research" on WoW related incidents, but didn`t tell the mother about the parental limits that she could put in! I don`t blame the mother in any way, but no one is doing anything to help the guy by offering solutions, talking deeply to him etc. They just winge about the problems.
I just hope Blizzard are happy rolling around in their beds of money.
Parents that sue game companies for their own idiocy and negligence should take a look in the mirror.
And try to remember the term "get a life" is extremely insecure and subjective as well. What is a life exactly? Last time I checked everyone is living, and choosing what they want out of life in any given moment. Just because you like to massage jello with your penis in a dismal basement doesn`t mean you can accuse someone of not having a life because they like to make art out of candy.
And as far as the kid throwing his fist through a wall? Guess what mom, he has a bad temper. Online gaming is just a spark on an already short fuse. If he played basketball and took it seriously maybe he`d get into fights or throw the ball at some nine year old watching from the bleachers.
And the crying? The famous camera zoom to capture the tears so whiny stupid housewives can have something to complain about at the next PTA event? Give me a break. Why are you crying? Because you suck as a parent? Because you enable his behavior?
Hey, here`s a thought, maybe allowing a stupid 16 year old with a temper to make all of his own decisions is exactly why he`s where he is. Cry me a river lady.
I hate network television, bad parents and bored kids with no motivation. Oh, and for the record, I don`t play WOW anymore.
I have a girlfriend, a job, great friends and a close family. I live alone, in a nice apartment and I take care of my responsibilities.
That being said, I went through my WOW addiction a while back. I played excessively. Why? Because it was fun. I enjoyed myself. Yes, I neglected certain things I shouldn`t have but I wasn`t enthralled to the point of losing more important things in my life.
What really pisses me off is how stupid parents and the general population loves to dramatize things that they don`t understand. Do you think the mother has ever had a hobby or passion she invested hours on end in? I doubt it. Do you think the reporter, producer, editor or the entire god damn television network cares about whether this is a justifiable concern or not? No, but it gets ratings.
It`s a hobby. Some people take it too seriously. Big surprise. People take a lot of hobbies too seriously.
Btw, I`m not biased, I`ve been sober for 3 months :) Just hooked on I-A-B and webcomics and other computer games, and xbox, and gamecube, and the upcoming Wii launch, and working to get money for the upcoming Wii launch, and OH NOES! I`M ADDICTED TO THE INTERNETS!
even warcraft 3 is better so ive heard
POSSUM THE OTHER WHITE MEAT WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
personally, i do not like world of warcraft, but i don`t like it when the news skewers something that thousands of people love.
People are saying this can`t be an addiction because its not a physical fom, but people get addicted to gambling, so I suppose this would fall into the same box. When I were a kid though, I`d be forced into doing all my homework/chores etc. before Sonic The Hedgehog reared his spikey blue head!!!
ok thats my rant over ;)
What a shame.
Quick! pass the nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, propanol before I commit suicide.
seriously though: an addiction has been the same throughout history, all that has changed now is the form =P
Parents should just step up and take some action. Look into what your child is doing. She could have prevented it all together if she used the built-in parental controls.
That and he needs a life. D: Before he hurts someone.
My brother is a bit like this, though no-where near as bad. At least he paid his WoW subscription himself, then he cancelled it cos he realised it was a load of $hite. No its Command and Conquer Something-or-other.
Sure, the kid has an addiction to a nerd-game. Why doesn`t she discuss it with her kid instead of the national over-dramatising program. Or, as some-one else suggested, just stop paying an force the kid to give it up. OR make the kid get a freakin job or go to TAFE or something worthwhile.
Basically, this program shows only one side of this story.
I`d rather not waste my money on a hooker, thanks. I`d rather get myself a real woman. And you do realize that simply "getting laid" doesn`t solve all of life`s problems for the average male.
now that another addition has been identified by insane people, i guess the opposite would be adhd
WoW sucks anyway. I hate RPGs that have assloads of stats that you have to manage. And the community`s probably full of lamers.
This has happened with my friend...seriously, she shunned all of her friends to play world of warcraft ¬_¬
