I had forgotten about all the hype. Interesting how they never mention Mac in this story.

Mac was never mentioned, but it was said win95 was hardly a technalogical improvement, as for the rolling stones selling out to bill gates, amoral and arrant

Is 16 too young to be nostalgic about my OS of youth?
Ohh the long nights I`d spend playing Mech Warrior 3, as I listened to `unes on my boxy-as-hell but still the coolest ever, defualt media player.

Haha, good times

ahh... the sounds of windows ME (Messed-up Edition) I myself had a macintosh performa (which was visable for about 2 seconds in this advert) and from that i build myself a computer and put 95 onto it. i dont know why. I then 2 years later upgraded to 98 and i didnt really see a diffrence. later i upgraded to XP and i liked it except for the crashes. but now im have come full circle. im now using a macbook and i run XP on it as well.

Ah I remember this. I was about 6. My dad put me on computers early, I had been using Win 3.1 for about a year. Then came 95... What a difference. That`s when computing stopped being a pain. Then, in 2006, the PC was replaced with a brand new Mac. Bring on the flame war.

Windows 95 was the best Windows OS to date; simplest, and most intuitive to use, and not bogged-down by all kinds of patches and exes. Then the big blunder of 2000, ME and XP all coming out at virtually the same time; what the hell was the difference?! If Mac first developed the basic platform from which Win 95 takes it`s cues, they should have stuck with it, because Macs have become the most unintuitive operating systems around as of now.

What they didn`t mention was how Windows 95 was a total copy of the Mac operating system that had already been out for years... nothing even slightly original about Windows 95.

I am young. I don`t remember a time before Windows 95-I was alive but I didn`t really care, so I didn`t retain it in my memory. Although it really wasn`t that long ago...
^I also think those who comment on something without seeing it should also be banned.

I think the next person who says "first post" anywhere on IAB should be banned.

I remember using Windows 3.1, then totally obliterating it by deleting the DOS folder out of curiosity. I was only 10 or 11 then.

Windows 95 was the first Windows OS to allow real multi-tasking (can`t recall when NT came out so it may have been first). Windows 3.1 used a system where each program had to allow other programs to run. If your program did not do this it would not multi task. In Windows 95 this was made automatic, if you create a program in 95 it can multi task.

man you guys are young. I remmber dos, and then upgrading the computer to 8 megs of ram so we could get win 3.1, which was really neat. then several years later we bought a PC with windows 95, and it was amazing! (other than how long it took to boot) The start menu and task bar were the best.

I barely remember using Windows 3.1... but all I know is that windows 95 seemed sooo much better than that. Of course I was about 6 or so. What the hell did I know.

I bet if all those people could see where Windows is now, they wouldn`t be so hyped about it.

I had a windows 3.1 and then a 95.

If you wanna look up ideas behind the new Microsoft system it`s codenamed "Longhorn".

ya win95 was a major leap because before that was like windows 3.1. cant recall how windows look before that because I was too young and never had a pc until windows 3.1

95 - 98 - me was all quite the same looking so those were not major break throughs.

Windows XP was kind of different though but still it is similer to the previous windows. Also windows vista is still similer to the old windows. Just with nicer graphics and stuff. 3.1 to 95 did change the whole user interface with the start menu
