I work at the Thrifty Car Rental. Here`s some truths about our call center

It lowers their talk time (a good thing), but it also lowers their sales and their sales:call ratio (called a conversion rate)>Working at this kind of call center doesn`t suck that bad, but sometimes you feel like strangling the customer over the phone lol>People that work at call centers are required to follow a very specific call script. If you really want to annoy them, ask random questions, LOL

Oh, P.S. whenever I get Telemarketing calls, I interrupt their opening line with a "Can you hang on for a second?" and then I just put the phone down and go about my business. See, they can`t hang up on you! So, last time, I forgot, and by the time I remembered, about 45 minutes had gone by. When I picked the phone back up, the CSR couldn`t wait to get off the line.
I know, it`s their job, but sometimes people get real annoying about it and really keep insisting you listen even if you say it`s a bad time.
... and, the only call we really ever got was at 1 am and I was the only one awake and was all "WTH!!!" I picked up, they said they wanted to sell some sort of cable. I just said "GO. TO. SLEEP." and hung up.
he should`ve done that to the telemarketers that poke and prod at you and basically dont let you hang up.
But seriously, what was that about. Telemarketers are nice and the company isn`t? Last time I checked, the company isn`t holding them hostage and they chose that job.

And to the girl who said "I hang up on telemarketers half way through", thats really not a good thing to do. As I said, these people are just doing their job, its their company you should be mad at, not them, and if you`re nasty to the telesales agent it`ll just make them less cooperative and more likely to list you as someone to call back and try again with, and they`ll keep doing that every time you`re rude or hang up instead of listening what they have to say, and cooperatively working out what they want, and how to stop their calls.
