Nertz, I still haven`t seen WOTW. This clip...I sorta wanted to laugh, till I saw the human-dust and clothes flying around, and then I felt kinda dirty.

When I first watched that movie, it gave me nightmares of aliens. But that was great! I wanted them to keep shooting the people, it looked like fun with the song playing.

"The lasers are probably just heating up the water molecules in our body making them explode."

Molecules don`t explode, they evaporate. )-|

The lasers probably make the water in our body expand then evaporate, but then again, HOW THE HELL WOULD THEY DO THAT????

War of the worlds- poo movie
Set to benny hill- funny

did u look at those links, SPrinkZ? go to the merzo.net one and look under the `big` section if u didn`t. that reference wasn`t for fancyful commercial tv sci-fi with as much scientific backing as magic. it was for ringworlds and dyson spheres (like on the other two links) the tip of the realastic, deep-detail sci-fi iceberg. i`ve nothing to prove, i`m just premoting `real` sci-fi info for ppl who r interested in it like me. i wasn`t saying anything was impossible (not a believer in the impossible) just that the explaination u gave in ur first post was pretty illogical. i`m no authority on any matter by any measure, just read ringworld before u go considering urself one on sci-fi at least. Crowe

What are you trying to prove Crowe? That some sci-fi shows did something? I am saying that the technology they `hypothetically` used, isn`t terribly impossible.

Not that I was contesting that most ideas have an orgination, no matter how obscure.

So the end, you lose.

"A scarier death would be a person exploding and splattering bloods and guts everywhere."

That would be a gorier death, yes. Films like Final Destination played off the gore factor. Seeing a man get a ladder through his eyeball may certainly shock, but imagine being next to someone when they blow up and you get blood and guts all over you. Now, imagine being next to the person that was powdered in WOTW. You`ve got dust that doesn`t even resemble anything human in your eyes and your hair and you`ve probably breathed it in as well, and you`re hit with the clothes they were wearing a split-second before they melted into dust.

I know which would terrify me a lot more.

here`s some appropriate links:

(when it comes to ringworlds of reasonable possibility, wipe all ideas of Halo from ur mind, despite how good the game was)

I think the lasers might have something to do with destroying living cells only. That would explain why the clothes stayed intact.

From a cinematic point of view, it makes the person`s death that much more scary because their clothes are left. One second it`s a person running for their life; the next it`s a cloud of dust and some jeans blowing in the wind.

War of the worlds wa a terrific movie Trucast.

But they didnt even need to do it in slow motion to make it funny. People need to do this to more movie clips.Probably children of the corn would be funny to the Benny Hill theme.

Probably a scary scene with just the original sound track on the big screen, but that music makes almost anything funny. (Not to flame, but SPrinkZ, read some sci-fi `cos you came across an idiot to me). Crowe

I didn`t like that movie at all. It was not scary at all- honestly i was so bored. And it didn`t explain why the aliens were susceptible to germs. Did they even read the original book? Also moving the story to america was a bad idea.

The lasers are probably just heating up the water molecules in our body making them explode.

Not terribly far-fetched especially to a species that has conqeured interplanetary travel, or intergalatic.

So yeah, not far-fetched at all, but terribly inefficient.
