I might try to build one of those, providing I have a lot of extra time and extra strange parts. It was really cool though.

"Photoshopped!"

It`s not photoshopped, retard. Haven`t you ever seen strobe lights in action before? And no, strip clubs don`t count.

If you have a regular strobe light, use it in an otherwise dark room with a ceiling fan on. It`s the exact same thing.

That`s really cool. I was gaping. lol I wonder how much it cost them all together to make it. Maybe they can sell that in stores?

We have something like this at our local science museum (the MOST). Though you can only see drops going going down in slo-mo. I thought it was the coolest thing ever until I read the description for it, it was just colored water and a a strobe light. Disapointed with the lack of complexity, I went to the coolest part of the musem, with the scope that lets you see the cells in your eye, and refused to read any discriptions.

After that we made one at home with our bathroom sink at night.

^ Because harnessing light in the way lightsabers are supposed to do isn`t possible with today`s knowledge of physics, frankly I doubt it ever will be.

Amazing. Simply amazing. Think of it as a prototype, almost. "Reverse" time, stop it.. Of course, thats with the strobe things though.. But I would so pay for that! What do you think something like that is worth? :-O

ok, after a whole lot of searching, I think this will work. It`s about the weakest water pump I could find.

I am buying the parts now to make it. Only problem is he is very vague on a lot of parts. For example, he says a water pump, but then tells you to go on ebay and search for water fountain. How about I just buy a pump? But then the question is, how strong of a pump do I need?

Also, his schematic is very poorly drawn. Either way I think I can muddle through it.

I saw something like this back in 11th grade. Only it was a fan instead of a fountain. Using a strobe light in a dark room and changing the frequency of the flashes, he could make the fan look like it was going slow, backward, or completely stopped.

I have to say, this was much more entertaining. It actually looked like time was being manipulated. You could do the same thing with a leaky faucet and a strobe light, but admittedly, the effect wouldn`t be as profound.

"These things can get very bright. Unfortunately since we`re strobing them they will never blind you."

Damm and I wanted to go blind! (<-- Sarcasm!) Ah well not condemming the guy for a mistake, the fact that he made this fountain more than makes up for it! Its so cool! If I had the time or patience I would try and make one myself.

...right
like im actually going to go out and buy
- A short length of brass tubing
- Brass rods to solder the LEDs to
- Two NPN power transistors (TIP31 is what I used)
- A PIC16F628 suitably programmed
- One op-amp (LM741 or LM328 will do)
- Some other components (resistors, capacitors)
I dont know what any of those are O_o except the Brass Rods and tubes
