I don`t even know what to do to describe how great that was knowing that some AMERICANS actually got to hear our side of the story and that some americans might have realized how terrible sitcoms and american comedy is and how great canadian comedy is. Woah long sentence.

i thought it was funny. maybe cos everyone i know who`s been to Canada reckon`s its like Australia, except upside down. and waaaayyyyy colder. love to go there someday.

Also i find funny sometimes that America really doesn`t realize what the rest of the world thinks of them - they seem to think we all adore them for their hollywood celebrities and `defenders of liberty` attitude. i personally really don`t give a sheet.

-You have NYC, Philly and Chicago. Those are what we call cities and we have them too.
-The Rocky mntns are in Canada as well as the us so to go bragging about that is pretty dumb
-We do have the NHL and NBA also
-I also take it that you have never heard of Stanley Park because it is the second biggest park in North America, not second to Yellowstone but to one in Mexico
-We have beards... very interesting so do you
-Finally for future reference it is etc not ect

No one in America cares about Canadian lumber or hockey. I wasn`t even aware that Canada won.

Also, our satirical news journalists are actually funny. Canadians have annoying old farts and cameramen who can`t hold their camera straight.

im still laughing my a** off about that lumber statement.

I think it`s funny that everyone who commented on my coments didn`t read them closely enough to see that I STATED where I lived. And also, as I said, I LOVE it. ! :) It`s so nice and crisp in the winter and very homey :D... my statements were directly at the fact that if they were going to beat US up, then I had a few words for them.

Holy f u c k. I can`t believe this. I would like to state that I want to move to mars. What does arguing prove? NOTHING. I don`t care where someone lives, what they look like, what color they are. I don`t care how much money you have, or your country has, or how much mine does. As long as I can live my life, and try to like everyone, I`m the good one. That`s how we stay happy! I really wish everyone could think like that. It`s nice to know there are people proud of where they live, but sticking up for your government is stupid. One person to them means as much as their morning s h i t. I have lived a happy life until now, ignoring my goverment and everyone elses. There isn`t a damn thing I can do to change anything they do. I do the best with what I have, and choose to live for me, and the people I care about. Anyone else lacking my understanding is invisable to me.
Oh by the way, if you want to argue with me, I already win, because my dad can beat up your dad.

A VERY urgent message to michaelcsr:

quote:
As far as the beer goes, most American beer and all Canadian beer sucks.

Agreed.

Quote:
Good beer comes from Germany.

Aaaargh! I live in Belgium, THE beer country (neighbouring Germany), with yearly elections of top 10 best beers in the world etc. (check beer guides by Michael Jackson - no not the funny one). And 90% of all Belgians and beer knowers over the world give pretty bad comments about German beers in general. Really, they taste kind of watery. Don`t drink Heineken either (Dutch). Stella Artois is a good beer (Belgian).

Just to get a very bad misunderstanding out of the world and feeling slightly insulted. For the rest, no hard feelings.

And oh yeah, funny movie. I like Canadians.

This was hilarious! And to everyone bashing Canada: it rocks!

I`ve taken the ferry from Washington to Vancover Island before and it was so much fun to see Victoria and the whole island. I`ve also been to Douglas Lake Ranch in BC, which is also an amazing place to go.

Devin88, your wrong. Not all Americans know nothing about Canada. Pacific Northwesters know a ton about it and almost everyone in Washington has been to Whistler to ski.

1.) Yes...we really do know that dumb people are presidents...we have living proof.

2.) At yet, there are still places in Canada where I`m not afraid to leave my car window open when I run into the store.

3.) And your point? You have a lot more people and more events. Half of your points are just places. Yellowstone? We have Kootenay. The CN Tower, Vancouver aka Hollywood North, Toronto, Edmonton, CFL, and hunny we have the NHL too AND the rocky mountains are also in Canada. Who cares? Seriously. I love Canada, I love BC and I liked the places I`ve been in the States. It`s stupid for us to put each other down.

Dodoca, We do get pretty bad taxes for free healthcare. I`ve got a friend down in Texas and we`ve pretty much decided on...and I think a comedian out there says the same thing....that in America, if you get sick you`re screwed...in Canada, if you don`t get sick, you`re screwed.

Oh goodness, Indigo :D You`re so funny! You say that like America never mocks Canada. Oh what a laugh!

Unfortunatly, the "Bush is dumb" thing will only get old when Bush smartens up :(

His ethics and decisions aside, he`s just a generally unintelligent person! Even if he wasn`t supposed to be the leader of the freeworld...and I met him on the street I doubt I`d be impressed with him.

I don`t even hate Bush, so don`t get me wrong. I bet he`s a very nice guy. He`s like that dumb friend you keep around and say clever things around that are actually insulting :O

Mochrie was funny on "Whose Line is it Anyway?", but this clip didn`t make me laugh. While I agree with Maelstrom, I don`t think he should take this crap so seriously. Still, I think the "Bush is dumb" jokes are so old and stupid that I am convinced that the people who still use them have no brains at all.

Canadians, lighten up. America is the best and everyone knows it. Your constant insults only demonstrate your jealousy.

Canada also has lax marijjuna laws unless you have an ounce they really wont arrest you we also allow gay mariiage the states has some places to now im not gay and i dont hate gay people but hate how there will be some sort of commercial showing gay people making out showing its just as good as the originaland its a pro gay marriage so weve abolished those which would you have?

LKJSlain: I don`t know where you grew up, but I never had any of those problems. I grew up in the GTA and I thought it was great. I`ve seen a mountie once in my life in a parade while on vaccation. We have TOO MANY brand name stores for my tastes and we have one of the largest malls in the world, Square One (piddly compared to edmonton though). Also, when I was in school the white kids were the only ones picking on anybody, and we were a minority. Most of my good friends are Pakistani, Vietnamese, Persian, or Chinese, and they all speak perfect English, though their parents may have heavy accents. From my experience, most immigrants are happy to be able to be a Canadian, though we still do have many problems licensing internationally trained professionals to work here.

`i guess it`s a special gift that only Canadians have-to be able to laugh at ourselves.`

Alot of countries can do that- including england. I see what you mean- if a few sketches from british shows were shown out of context they might appear racist. (For example anything out of goodness gracious me or little britain)

wow...i can`t get over how whiney and absolutely rude some of these comments are...however, i`m not surprised to see that most are from americans. sorry folks, but apparantly you don`t know how to take a joke.

"this hour has 22 minutes" is a wonderful show that allows Canadians a half-hour each week to laugh at our government, and most importantly, ourselves. it`s a shame this clip was used out of context (in a sense). if more of that episode was shown, i`m sure we would have watched them make fun of Steven Harper, our military, and people from basically every province. i guess it`s a special gift that only Canadians have-to be able to laugh at ourselves. the clip wasn`t meant to bash the US...it was making fun of Canadians, and how we`re too lame to even speak up to the US in our own defense.(softwood lumber, etc) "we`re sorry for always apologizing."
it`s too bad so many of you can`t laugh at this, instead of getting all worked up. i love canada. i appreciate

0verclock3d is absolutely right. It really depends on where you are. I live near Vancouver and depending on where you are in the city you`ll either have beautiful homes, apartments, beautiful or just brand name stores or lots of dollar stores. I live in a smaller town but that would never have happened in my school, what happened to you JKLslain :( you would have been treated just like everyone else. I found with highschool the older you were the easier you were accepted into the class.

I love our multiculturalism :D We went to Vancouver for grad dress fabric shopping. We went into a fabric shop with the nicest east indian couple and they gave us great deals and helped us find the perfect fabric for our dresses, mine had this beautiful foreign silk kind of fabric that I would have never found if not for them...Right after we went to an Iranian market ..this was all after we got back from TNT market, a 98% asian store. Wonderful stuff!!

oh yeah and to let you know i do in fact know somthing about Canadas Armed forces for instince The bulk of the naval forces are the 12 Halifax Frigates, 12 Kingston defense ships, four Victoria hunter-killer submarines, and three Iroquois destroyers. Although they maintain active operations around the world and help support Land Force Command operations in Afghanistan, the Maritime Command serves mostly as a patrol and rescue force, similar to the Coast Guard of most nations.

dude don`t get me wrong the canadian milatary is a force to be reckend with Since the Second World War, the Canadian military has greatly modernized and is now a mature and independent armed forces appropriate for a sovereign nation. i`m just saying that as of recent years Canada no longer actually contributes very much to UN peacekeeping missions around the globe. Today they rank lower than several countries in Africa and South America in terms of participation.

@dodoca: We ARE taxed to hell, thank you for recognizing that. Every american friend who doesn`t know that (and there are alot) is astonished. 14% tax on all goods is ridiculous. Just this month, many Canadians were killed peacekeeping. I am surprised you would take a low blow like that. I myself am in the Navy reserve. I wish people would stop ripping on the military, since you don`t know what you are talking about. At. all.

@tribe4ever: It`s not well known there since people don`t WANT it well known. It was a screw up of the American government, and its quite important over here. It was quite unlawful, and in the end, the Canadians got screwed out of a ton of money, because of jealousy.

Male 230
@JKLSlain: I respect your opinion. You seem to be unbiased, since you`ve been in both countries. But I have to tell you, most of the things you are describing are region specific. Here, we don`t have mounties, we have plenty of brand name stores (you make it sound like we`ve never heard of sony or something)

Canadians are a VERY multicultural country, its immigration laws being very lax. Though you see this as a bad thing, I see it as a great thing. Instead of everyone conforming, everyone can be themselves. I have to refute that you`ve never seen a Canadian. I look at myself as Italian, and Canadian. But Canadian prominently. Most Canadians do. They are Canadians first and they`re home country second.

You must be living in a bad neighbourhood then, on your school situation. It`s not like nationally, everyone picks on everyone else. Your class just had bad apples, it happens to every class.

Also, bragging about hockey is not a great move, no one in America has given a s**t about hockey since the cold war. If those boasts are the total accumulation of their entire countries past and present, that is pretty pathetic.

french. I had more conflicts with PEOPLE in Canada that were PERFECT strangers than I`ve EVER had here and I was a quiet 9 year old, hence, people are RUDE and terribly unforgiving! I went to a school where THREE of the children didn`t speak english at ALL (asians) yet, they treated ME like the foreigner and put me down (the teachers etc...) On the school, the school system sucks, when I was IN school in Canada, I was attacked THREE times by older boys, but when I finally started a fight with someone who was harassing me (after all the other occurances) they TOOK ACTION IMMEDIATELY... where as they did NOTHING when I myself was attacked. Teachers also made me stand out in a blizzard while I froze as some sort of "punishment". EVERYTHING looks tacky, dark and unkept REGARDLESS of what time of year (at least in Toronto.)

honestly? I love it there. I have LOADS of fun on visits HAHA. But, if they`re going to bash US, I have a few words for THEM.

Having lived in both America AND Canada, I can tell you that there are many differences. While Canada is beautiful, I would take America any day. Canada is far too liberal for my tastes. There are so many countries all rolled up into one, that you can live next to your neighbors for twenty years, and all of you will have language barriers (been there). They build everything on top of something else. Everyone lives ABOVE little buildings that look like dimestores, and it`s terribly cluttered (at least down the streets of Toronto). At times, you can`t tell one shop to the next. And forget name brands and stuff like that, a good deal of stores lining the streets are "dollar" stores and "gift" shops. Or they look that way. Royal Mounties are NOT threatening in ANY way. Doctors are free, but they`re not getting paid enough, so they`re stupid and unmotivated *has been through medical HERE and THERE*. There is NO SUCH thing AS a Canadian. I`ve NEVER SEEN ONE! They`re all &

We have tons of money, our population is small and that`s awesome. If we were to divide it up, each citizen would have over a mile to themselves. We have free healthcare, and that`s where our money goes. Our army stays small because we don`t need one. I`m sorry your leader likes to pick fights. That`s why a lot of people in your country die. About 10% of the population speaks French, and everyone is mandated to learn it until grade nine. You are NOT required to be fluent, even most in Montreal are not fluent.

"You know what? America is sorry too. We`re sorry that we have some really retarded neighbors that try to make themselves sound better than the USA but just sound like whiney losers. I`m especially sorry that I clicked on this link and watched this crappy video."

You`re history knowledge: 0. Canada was not even a country back then, it was a large amount of British colonies. Canadians DID burn down the White House, since the British men (at that time) became Canadians when they confederated.

I love Canadians (Except for one crazy bitch in British Columbia who stole my video camera) and I always consider that country sort of our little brother. We can pick on you, but God help any other country that does. As far as the beer goes, most American beer and all Canadian beer sucks. Good beer comes from Germany. The only American Beer worth a poo is the Budwieser you get in Missouri. 7% alcohol by volume. But, still tastes like Bud. So, everybody calm down and get over yourselves. v_wilkes85, hunny I love you dearly because you`re a fellow canadian but your post has a lot flaws.

For about every anti canadian post here so far there are 3 others that are americans who are laughing it up. It IS a joke, absolutely!

But making cracks about America, like their humor for example isn`t fair. Americans mock their own government just as much as Canadians do. I watch Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report as much as I can, unfortunatly I can`t always stay up until one to watch the both of them but I promise you, it goes past "yo mama" jokes.

The rest of Canada does not hate Quebec. I live in BC and I love Quebec and the history there. My grandmother was born there and I still have relatives who reside in the province...however I do hold a grude against the separatists in Quebec who want to make Quebec their own country and I dislike how much our country tries to cater to them to stop them from going.

Let`s just keep up a standard of class, okay?

That was hilarious. It`s a hell lot cheaper to live in Quebec then Toronto. Americans, it`s a joke, don`t get so offended. The show "This Hour has 22 Minutes" is a comedy show, and they do most of the time make fun of Canadian politics, but it`s irrsistable ot take a nab at America.

Oh, how I love Canada. Almost as snarky as British comedy. And far surpasses what passes for funny here. Jackass? Anyone can hurt themselves. Not everyone can be satirical.

he didnt appologise for brian adams

We disowned him a long time ago :(

As for YOU Maelstrom, you seriously need to take a joke. Yes, it is funny to bash you for being isolationist during ww2 and then demanding everyone go to war with you and getting pissy when it takes us awhile. How does it feel? :D

Canada was a british colony up until about 1982 so if the British who were here at the time burnt down the white house, we can damn well consider it being burnt down by Canadians...unless of course we don`t consider anyone born before 1982 a canadian but rather a brit.

As for the lumber, WE care about our lumber seeing as we lost nearly 5 billion dollars in unfair dutiest the US imposed on us while trying to sell america cheaper, better wood.

In Canada we learn french like you learn spanish. Quebec is our New Mexico, get over yourself.

Besides, I`d rather be the retarded neighbour than the violently schizophrenic one that hears voices whispering sweet nothings of weapons in Ira

This is retarded.

Isn`t it funny how someone bashes us for being an isolationist country during WWII but also bashes us for going to war with a dictator that tortures and kills millions?

Canada DID NOT BURN DOWN the White House. The British did. Canada only had some soldiers there during the time. Check any non-Canadian source.

And lumber? Who the hell cares about your lumber? Go shove a pine tree up your a**.

Canada sucks. Many Canadians speak French, and everyone agrees that France sucks, even the French!

You know what? America is sorry too. We`re sorry that we have some really retarded neighbors that try to make themselves sound better than the USA but just sound like whiney losers. I`m especially sorry that I clicked on this link and watched this crappy video.

I`m just happy that everybody passed their " Let`s put Colin in a flash animation! Yeah that`s original and isn`t a stale joke stemming from the butthole of society!"

Not his fault though, so I can still adore his talent in the bygone era of Whose Line.

Of course their 2005 estimates but I dont think it has changed over night. Canada is 13 and sadly the U.S is well you will be scrolling for a while... 150.

"OK it was typical Canadian crap. They whine so much because their population is smaller than Chicago and they don`t have any money. Their army has like 3 helicopters. I mean most of it was true but I got pissed when he started dissing our beer. Canadian big brewery beer sucks too. Our microbrews are the shiznit."

Chicago`s pop.: 2.8 million
Canada`s pop.: 32.6 million
Canada has 11.6 times Chicago`s population.

Canada`s GDP: 1.105 trillion
USA`s GDP: 12.25 trillion
Since the US has ten times the population as Canada, its appropriate that I divide the GDP by ten. This hows 1.225 trillion. Not a huge difference at all. US` deficit is also much, much, MUCH higher than Canada`s because of the war.

From Wikipedia.org:
Canadian Armed Forces: Air Command - Helicopters - 142 (A far cry from three, don`t you think?)

And, from a non-technical standpoint, pretty much all beer from the US tastes like water. It`s o.k. We feel your pain.
