Two stars. The people playing the instruments kicked ass, but the people playing the video games... it looked like it was their first time. F U C K I N sucked.

Hearing that little intro music from DK, when the monkeys form a tower. (25m, 50m, 75m) again, gave me the creaps! How many times did I hearded it in my life, meaning I failed a level again!!!
That`s what I call Nostalgic!!

But that was not the tetris song!

i thought it was great, the music was cool, i loved the pong at the start, shame about the cheering every 10 seconds, that kinda spoilt it, you don`t cheer at classical concerts, you just don`t, just listen to the music!!!

The Frogger bit won me over--a very interesting theme that probably won a lot of people over who don`t usually go to orchestra concerts!
Adding visuals are always fun to portray the music more...I`ve never done a video game concert, but I`ve played along to silent movies. The reaction of the audience is always great.

Yeh i saw this on Newsround... everyone saying they `don`t get it` or `it has nothing to do with video games` etc, firstly - it`s supposed to be more about the music. And following on, the idea of it is to get more people into classical music because it is seen as `boring` or only really for the `upper class` etc. Due to the popularity of video games someone decided that perhaps you could mix the two. This doesn`t seem to be the clip I saw, as the clip I saw had modern video games and wasn`t exactly the themes (but I don`t play many video games so wouldn`t know) - the games were just used as visual entertainment/stimulation. Couldn`t watch this all the way through, too tired, but it seems pretty fun.

Yeah.. to sum this all up for the people who don`t "get it". MOST of the music you heard was from each of those games -- except for the few near the beginning (centipede, joust, etc) that was put to the "Ride of the valkyries".

And why people were laughing -- i`d think it`s a normal reaction for people who are reminiscing about the games they forgot they played back in the day. Like Elevator Action, Dragon`s Lair... I remember playing them in the Arcade.

I think these guys did a pretty decent job in recreating the music from those video games. (Yep, definitely would have been cool to hear Bubble Bobble in there :P)

So to all you young ones who only recognize games like Tetris -- go get an emulator or something and try playing those other original games -- know your roots :)

Cool stuff! BTW, check the age group of all those who thought this was "lame" or "had nothing to do with video games". Damn kids! Get the hell off my lawn! When I was your age , I had to ride a bike with a BANANA seat, and no helmet to the video arcade, up hill in the friggin` snow just to play these games! We had no PSP`s or X box 360`s , but we were thankful for what we had!!! Punks. >-(

By the way, the game wedged between Satan`s Hollow and Donkey Kong ain`t Commando, but the older and lesser-known Front Line.

That was pretty freaking awesome. I especially appreciated the Rastan/Outrun part of the medley, considering that I used to while away many an hour playing those exact two games at the local 7-11 when I was younger.

If they`d included Bubble Bobble, this piece would`ve been absolute perfection.

This was boring. I`ve tried watching it 2 times before this, and I just succeded. The crowd was annoying. I knew some of the games, frogger was the best there. The whole cartoon part was stupid. And I guess I`m just not a fan of orchestra.

If your talking about the one at the beginning at about :51 sec. into the video, it`s called Defender.

Those two are not random cartoons, they actual games called Dragon`s Lair, and Space Ace. And yes, that`s what game play looked like. Also the car game "Outrun" was an eight-bit game.

I have to agree with Flyangel. I would like to take my son to one of these concerts, he is 6. I had to go to symphonies when I was younger, enjoyed them, but would have appreciated them more at that age had it been this type of format. I think Colton would enjoy i. Brilliant Idea!!!

All I can say is that some of you are clearly lying about your ages...

Its amazing to me how many folks don`t GET this. Themes played by orchestra. Yes, an orchestra. Those big things with all the pretty instruments. The world of pop music has destroyed music as we know it. Weep for humanity.
