I bet that seal had a friggin heart attack.
I`ve seen the nature shows where the orcas bat around seals with their tails like it`s a baseball. They are called killer whales for a reason...

Also, Killer Whales ARE dolphins. They are the world`s largest dolphin species.

Whales, yes, are mamels.

Like dolphins and porpoises, they are cetaceans.

(Cetecea, Delphinidae, Orcinus orca.)

They are the most widely distributed animals on earth, after humans.

They have been observed hunting and feeding on all cetaceans, sharks, many kinds of fish, and even eachother.

Since they have been observed hunting and feeding on Blue Whales, they are, perhaps, the only known species to prey on what is the largest animals known to ever have existed.

There have been cases of orcas even hunting small boats in order to feed on people. And yes, in certain situations, they will hunt and consume one another.

Dolphins are intelligent and ruthless, much like humans, another successful, intelligent species.

When the marine experts first found the bodies of the porpoises washed up on Dutch shores, they tried to sue an offshore oil rig to stop operations, because they believed that the porpoises had been caught in explosions.

Massive shockwaves had blasted through their bodies at such speed that normally soft tissues had `fractured`. An enormous amount of forced had been brought to bear on the animals. Mostly juveniles, but also adults and even pregnant females.

It turns out that dolphins (not Orca`s, a smaller species of dolphin) had thrown the animals as much as fifteen feet in the air, then swiftly launched themselves into the falling animals.

Their noses represent an area of on a few square inches, and they targeted vital organs. Victims with exploded kidneys and stomach’s probably died on shore.

None of the animals were ever eaten. Nor did they compete with dolphins for resources or space. Nor were the dolphins practicing techniques they ever used for hunting.

I LOVE dx

"....surprised no one has pointed out that "killer whales" are not in fact whales. Unless I`m mistaken, they are mammals and are related to dolphins <--the smartest animal on earth"

The species on the Earth with the largest brain is the whale. Its brain is six times the size of a human brain.

Food for thought

Cmon people.. Theyre not mean because "THEY EAT CUTE LITTLE ANIMALS". They HAVE to do it to survive. Would you like to see a seal get eaten or 500 dead whales washed up on your beach?

i know im a female, and i should be sympathetic, but you cant call an animal mean because they generaly arnt smart enough to be mean, animals eat to live, would you not eat because you would think it was mean to eat an animal, so dont be a fcking hippocrite.

oh and ashwey, its not that they made it up. Its a mothers (or fathers) instinct to teach their kin to hunt.

dolphins are not the smartest animal on earth. there the 2nd or 3rd, forgot. the pig comes close. Humans are the smartest animal on earth, yes, we are animals. I dont want people saying "awww poor seal *goes and cries*" thats pathetic. Animals were here to consume and reproduce. Not here to feel sorry for others. If im starving in the middle of the ocean on a boat. I dont want to feel sorry for something, I WANT TO FECKING EAT IT! I dont care if i just killed the last species. If im going to die. Im going to take an animal with me if i do.

Putting the seal back on the ice is like putting a snack back in the refridgerater. You go back and get it when you`re hungry.

And watch as the seal has a small heart attack on the ice afterwards.

They eat what they can... they are carnivorous animals.. that`s what they do. Does that make them mean because they kill dolphins and dolphins are cute?

They would kill ponies and unicorns also if they could. OH NO!! The bastards!!!

This is why I hate killer whales. They are mean animals, that eat anything, including blue whales, dolphins, seal, fish, etc.
>< So scared of the ocean because of these beasts. And I generally like animals.

Smart whales. I still think that nature is much more harsh then humans are though. Also, how come this is ok for an animal to do, but not a human? We have to treat animals like humans even though they are not and still let animals treat everyone else however they want because they are animals. I mean, they exist to eat or be eaten and to reproduce. That`s about it. Sure we should treat them well in order to set a good example of how to treat living beings in general, but common, its just an animal!

"because we are supposed to be empathic and have greater intelligence than just instinct, and not tease animals. we should only hunt in the wild out of desparation. i`m not a vegetarian or anything but the animals we have for food are kept/bred for that reason we don`t go out and kill animals in the wild to sell in big stores (ok fishing maybe..) and as someone said, the seal didn`t die anyway they were just teaching their kids the technique. As for seal clubbing in can i don`t think it was that they were being killed, more that it wasn`t humanely & if you wonder how i can be against animal cruelty but not be a vegetarian - i have a taste for meat, we`re meant to, we`re built to"

and the difference between us and the whales
is that we do it for sport, we don`t need to
kill the seal to live.

Now if it were humans that were wave hunting that seal, we would be called a bunch of sick creeps that makes an lesser species suffer. But put on dorsal fins, and black white patches and we would be called an animal with truly amazing hunting techniques[/quote]

That poor seal? That was the luckiest seal on Earth at that moment. It didn`t stand a chance against those killer whales. It was three inches from death! I believe that the seal is now thankful for its life and committing the rest of its time on Earth to only benefitial and meaningful actions for it is now truly a very spiritual being

Just curious, how many people watched it till` the end? Alot of you are acting like the seal died. The whales spit it back out onto the ice after they were done teaching their kids how to hunt it.

Whoa.. They`re ALOT smarter than we give them credit for.

I bet they even had a deal worked out with the seal too, paying him in fish, never seen a whale spit a seal back up and let it live. Crazy stuff.
