aside from the technical issues mentioned in most of the above comments, this could change peoples minds.
like lets say some average joe at 40 years old, slightly overwieght starts playing the game where he is some gun hauling badass, after a while he might thing that what he can do in the game is the same as what he can do in real life. like what if he was in a bank that happened to be robbed. no problem he will just bash the robber in the back, take his gun and kill them all right? prolly not
I mean, I could see ways where this could be wonderful. But I can also see ways where this could ruin lives. I kind of agree with Marrem. This could go horribly wrong, what with murderers using video games to train. I mean.. I realize that these people are already pretty much screwed.. but yeah. Its just scary.
I really don`t like how much joy people get from killing things. I know its just a game but it`s sick. And this just makes it even more real. What about those games that allow you to kill th innocent? With something this immersive and with a game advanced enough it could get really bad.
You`re right. I`m not a gamer. Maybe I just don`t understand. But it just seems like maybe people should step out into the real world.
I`m not saying this thing is bad, but.. yeah.
first of all, you lose all sense of the world around you (i dont mean that you think the VR is the real world, but that you cant see or hear what is happening).
second of all, this is the next generation of FPS. people will think it is `more real` than console based versions where you can see the controller. people will get used to shooting fake firearms and think `wow, this is easy and fun! i should join the army!`
also, somewhere in this thread someone said "it would be cool to feel what your character felt." unless you like getting shot repeatedly over and over, that wont happen. getting shot hurts like a bitch. and unless they are selling a game called `Virtual BDSM` they would have no purpose for it unless people liked breaking their legs, getting hit by cars, and getting shot in the chest.
Looking at video...Okay, video games + exercise = no fun
With Spork`s improvements, of course.
I can picture CS now...
@Marram: You`re full of sh*t. You aren`t a gamer are you?Anyone who refers to a microsoft "sim" as a real game should be shot.
If anyone wanted to, they could get some bitmaps of real cities and use that for their games. It would just be a jarring transition between the computer generated sprites and the rest of the game.
Storage space isn`t really an issue. When`s the last time you saw a 150GB video game? If such a "real life" game ever came into existance, 90% of it would be saved server-side anyway.
You see, the wonderful thing would be that, by that time, as WoW, etc witll have run their course, a much larger population would play MMOs. We could have 1 completely immersive, real life MMO played by BILLIONS of people world wide.
Just my dream, anyway.
er,m you saw it on ABC... OH so it MUST be true. I`m glad to see none of you brought up the issue that with our medical technology as it is humans have slowed evolution by a significant amount because the cripples and idiots of the world are allowed to breed spreading their deformed ressessive genes because they havn`t dies when they should have in nature. harsh words but true.
SHOOT THEM ALL!!!!!*btw if i were one of the afrementioned people i would gladly give my life knowing my bad genes aren;t polluting the human genepool. And before anyone says something like "maybe you should kill yourself then you retard"Or "do the world a favour"I`ll just be content in the knowlege that i thought of that fir
Oh, and I want one of those.
you wear a glove with lots of tiny rods in it and as you touch something vertural the tiny rods push in and it fills like youre toching it--the new nentendo wee has sensors in the remot to tell when you move it and in whayt direcshiounso in thery
if you put the presherey sensors from last post in a hole suit and put tecnolgey like from the nentedo wee and worn a helmet showing a image you could walk in a vertural world and fill things-
Yu cun speel reel goodly!
ive herd of that when you put electrecas signals through a type of plastic it moves very slihgtley
so if we figer a way to move it in serton ways
you could have peron in a tank (like from the matrix)
and i y chould trick there sense of toch into thincking there in a world
*note* in the matrix the goo was used as food not as part of the matrix)

Seriously dude, lay off the Matrix for a while... maybe you`re the one who can`t determine reality from fiction.
Trust me, gamers do not want to hear the truth. I`ve tried to explain to people numerous times that if technology got so advanced, the brain may not be able to evolve quick enough to determine the difference between the real and gaming worlds. Thus, people could end up being confused and doing things that they really shouldn`t in real life. And although most people flame when you say this, it is rather quite obvious. Imagine a game that is so immersive that the ENTIRE WORLD is built into the game? Or, rather, big cities are. Look at Microsoft`s FSX, which is a flying sim that includes big places from around the world. What if games were put onto a media device that held more than Blu-Ray, and held the entire world in one disc. People could easily be confused, if the brain has not evloved. But I don`t know why I preach to people, I end up being yelled at for saying crap like this. Oh well. Just my two cents
Now they have to figure out how to get him out in the sunlight.
the fact that he`s not actually walking when he moves in the game.....retard.
And it looks like he must have a control stick on the gun or something. When the game moves forward, the player does not.
Quite a neat idea however.
this is the image they show when youtube is down btw.
so there! proof that youtube is down.
so if it is a youtube video it wont be working...
