i... dont understand how people cant understand... the problem said "expand", and its math, so its most likely some complex thing... but all he did was add space, and didnt do anything mathematically. its really not that hard

This is basic algerbra people I thought most educated people would know the answer and at least everyone would understand the joke - whether it be complete crap or not.

For those who don`t get it, to expand an equation you take the numbers in the brackets and multiply etc so they are out of the brackets. This dude just made the equation look bigger by spacing it out, thus expanding it.

clumsy13, the formula is actually that of the binomial theorem, which is college algebra.

I wonder if the student knew better and was joking or if he was genuinely stumped. The kicker is that all he had to do was write out the steps of the formula; there was no actual work to be done.

why do u have to be a geek or a nerd to get it?your just stupid if you don`t get it. Its a simple joke. It wasn`t HAHAHA funny, mroe like hehe cute funny :)

lol..i did tht when i was tryin to hurry and do sum of my hw b4 we turned it in for class..and my teacher called me a smartass but still gave me an A :-)

thanks nucks fan. haha i don`t want to hijack this thread, i love how kovalchuck once said "guys say stuff to me on the ice, i dont understand fully what they say, so i smile and then go score goal" kovy is definatley one of my fave players. hahhaha.

Thats the joke dummy, he didnt do what he was supposed to he just expanded it and made it bigger

Overmann ^ means to the power of... since you cant write it in superscript. Remembering the formula for that seems pretty redundant if you can do binomial expansion anyway.

-videogamer, I`ve never seen it written like that. What exactly does the ^ mean?-

I didn`t actually take the time to look at the comment you`re referring to, but I`m assuming he wrote something along the lines of 2^n. In which case the "^" is supposed to show the next number is an exponent (think of it as pointing to where the number would go) so 2^n would be 2ⁿ

I`ve been doing expanding brackets in maths at the moment. I might try that. The teacher can`t tell me it`s wrong, (mind you she can tell me i`ve done it the wrong way). i`m goin for the record! (a.................+...................b)n

- Another math student with a sense of humor.
the paper is pretty funny i guess

yeah...i was wondering why, too. *shudders*

And that paper, i`m not sure i understand it...

100th post..

40)Expand:

(a+b)n

(a x b)n

(a x b)n

(a x b)n

Thats funny :)

Heh heh, I laughed =p

p.s. as for math.......math makes me want to play in traffic...

thank God i`m finished my math requirements for college

This site really attracts idiots :-D

that was good.

but not as good as the find x one!

How can you not know...um...its a pair of boobs isnt it?

lmao you dirty kid!!!!

But remember people, nobody likes a smartarse.

That`s the answer.

Expand, look at the symbols and numbers, they`re going outward, like they`re EXPANDING. Derr

I can only hope you are joking.

XD

hahhaha.

he put space between the letters i.e. Expand
