They probably haven`t had time to study the side effects of this gene yet. Chances are, they recently discovered it and since it usually takes 10 at least to discover long term effects it`ll be awhile before we really know.

^yup, common typo error considering the keys are right next to each other. However i do think they need to rephrase the first paragraph.

Scientists in the United States say it may soon be possible to vaccinate emergency workers against the effects of a nuclear explosion.

Funny, i thought the effects of a nuclear explosion is you get blown the fudge up, they can prevent this?

This is kind of bunk. A dirty bomb needs radiation preventive care? BS!

We`re not talking nuclear grade weapon, but instead radioactive material dispersed through a bomb. The only source of radioactive material that`s plentiful/accessible enough to use in a bomb like this, is probably hospital waste from radiology.

Even with this material we`re not talking widespread death, we`re talking a slightly increased chance of cancer...and a multi-billion dollar cleanup operation.

There have got to be side-effects with a treatment that extreme. And I imagine it must be quite radical, having a passing knowledge of the effects of radiation on humans.
Wouldn`t you somehow have to isolate the nucleus of a cell?

What about long term effects? Birth deffects? Super human abilitys? What happens if I get a radiation vaccine, then 1-3 years down the road mt dick falls off, oh well? No, im gonna be very upset. They need to include facts with this artical, were the mice given this vaccine back in the 80`s and never died from the radiation? Or did the vaccine give them penile refractionation. Facts damnit, I need facts!
I`m a little bit sceptical. I`m not a lover of gene therapy. It takes years to fully understand the side effects and even then the side effects ono human`s could be way different to the side effects seen on mice. I have a horrible feeling that America may rush this vaccine out aswell, just incase of a dirty bomb. I seriously hope not.

As for using Muderers and rapists, in an ideal world we could get away with that but unfortunately the scum of our society have more rights than some poor mice.
