Definately the best thing on IAB so far. I grew up around death and dead things on a farm so this doesn`t bother me in the slightest. and yes aftershock the smell of an autopsy does suck.

hey I know this guy.. I was in one of his expos in germany (Frankfurt) where they show real bodies from donators.. its extremely interesting to see exactly where the real nerves go along ion your body and they show everything ( including misbuilt embryos and children )!
If you get a chance to see this in real, do it.. the enterance wont cost you a wealth and as I said its really really interesting!

HAHA, Yea.. for my first few clinicals for my MD I had to attend then perform more than one autopsy... let me tell you, you are getting away easy... if you could SMELL the smells in some of the organs, and when you make some of the incisions... hah.

America is so messed up. Americans see Janet Jackson`s boob and "OMG my child was watching that, Im going to sue!" But when they show violence "oh look some poor bastard got jumped, let`s go eat."

Anyways, the autopsy was pretty cool. I never knew fat looked yellowish. the scissors cutting through sounded so cool.

Dennis the live model was unnecessary XD

To those who were saying it`s gross (without anythign but that), it was made for the purpose of being educational, and unless someone is sitting there laughing at the gore of it, it`s not any different than dissecting that frog you might have had to in school or something.

....But I had to laugh at the people who were watching it`s faces. Some of them were sitting there with the biggest grins ever. >.>

Yeah, I can`t really watch that. I`m not grossed out by blood or anything, but that is disgusting. I could never be like a surgeon or anything like that.

I tried watching some of the shows on TV, but my stomach wouldn`t let me. I don`t have any intention of trying it out again, for the time being. Still, I`m glad this sort of stuff is being shown to the mainstream.

This reminds me. I went to this exhibit at the museum and it was called Body World. It showed all these dead people, but scientists preserved their bodies so it was interesting to see all the muscles and bones and what the body looked like when it was dead. They were also put into weird displays such as one corpse was on a skateboard and another one was cut up into small pieces and then reassembled, but they put the pieces on the string so they fit together, but it made the body look like it exploded. You could also a lot of bones and limbs that were in display cases, but the BEST part of the exhibit was the fetus` where it showed the fetus during 1~22 weeks and it showed all the weeks up to 22. The interesting part of it was that you could see a woman that died, but the baby fetus was still inside her stomach and so they cut it open so everyone could see the inside of her stomach and fetus as it was developing. If you care to see Body World it travels around most of the United States.

does anyone else find this a bit disturbing? Im not sure what it is, Its just creepy. I mean Im not saying theres neccesarily anything wrong with it, I mean i have a kinda morbid curiosity for this sort of thing myself, but at the same time, there is something quite.. unsettling about a room of people watching a corpse being cut open. The parts where the ribs were being pulled away and the blood being flushed out made me feel a bit ill to be honest. Im ok with watching operations, but maybe its because they are "fixing" someone, rather than taking them apart. I cant say Im entirely sure why this has unnerved me, did anyone else have similar feelings on it?

Hi i posted this link last night and id just like to say how happy i am that most people found it as fascinating as i did. I was appaled the first time i watched it, but then i realised how fascinating, and important it is to understand how our own bodies work and the intricate biochemical mechanisms we take for granted. Channell 4 took a huge risk broadcasting it and it caused alot of cotraversy at the time but judging by the comments i`ve read it was well worth it!

ah yes, this was actually pretty interesting. I think the best thing to examine is take a sample of the inside of the liver and look at it under the microscope. There is bound to be some very nice things in there. (srry, bio in me talking again)

Yeah, mild spoiler warning here.
If you don`t like dead bodies and/or things being cut open, just don`t watch the video.
If you ignore this rule, don`t post that it was disgusting, because that`s stupid. (Not talking to you, Jenced80, your post was informed.)
The autopsy is a medical process that offers resolution to the family and friends of the deceased, as well as educational value. It`s not just something meant to gross you out.

I really...couldn`t watch. I played it up till the tip of the knife was on the old lady`s throat, paused it, and contemplated whether this was something I was really able to see...Yeah..no. LOL. Honestly, I couldn`t hack it as a med student. I work in a hospital, right down the hall from the morgue, actually, and the smell of formaldahide is regularly wafting cloyingly through the hall...just the smell makes me sick. I have to admire the strong stomachs of people in the medical field. I have kind of a morbid curiosity about post-mortem stuff, but apparantly it has its limits.

Haha! Lizzywizzy, yeah, I guess guys would wank off to that. Mmmmm .... >_<

It is not gross, it is just ... odd ... I guess ... not precisely what we are used to. On TV, it helps too, we don`t have the smell.

This is probably the best link I`ve ever seen on IAB. Everyone, even if it makes you a little squeamish, should try to watch as much of this as possible. You can never know too much about or get too comfortable with your own body and what it does.

Very impressive.

wasn`t the single autopsy show before the anatomy for beginners series? and now obv they`re doing an autopsy series. i didn`t like the `performance` of autopsy but i liked anatomy for beginners (the gross bit for me was when he shoved his whole hands in and snapped the pelvis out eww).

But my opinion of them is.. if you`re squeamish don`t watch it - complaints are not justified because in the old days people used to sit in like a theatre type thing and watch operations, dunno if it was just med students either. But anyway, whilst some people may think this sort of thing should be left for med students I think it is interesting for everyone and if it is done seriously & correctly then it is a good learning tool and help people understand their bodies & even death. As for the `subjects`, they must have donated their body to science and stuff, with permission of their next of kin etc. I think it`s all fair enough really, don`t watch it if you don`t like the idea of it.
