I`ll go see this one hoping that it`s even half as good as the original. And, if it is, it`ll be brilliant! Anything more is just icing. :-)
For those of you panning Kevin Smith (rather than name calling one another like a bunch of grade schoolers) for being "unoriginal", I offer the following bit of information:
Jason Mewes (Jay) has been fighting a drug addiction for years. Though Kevin Smith had planned for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back to be the last of the J&SB series, he promised Jason that if he got clean they would do one more. And frankly, I can`t think of a more apt way of doing so than coming full circle and returning to the story and characters that started it all.
And on a personal note, I think it looks funny.
Shut up, son. No one is addressing you.
Griffin, while incorrect, was understandable and didn`t need the comment. These comments make you appear A. Retentive, pls stop, or perhaps invest in a bag of coal and see how long it takes for you to make a diamond.
I`m a huge fan of K.S. C.Amy changed the way I think about relationships. Mallrats made me avoid chocolate pretzels. Dogma REALLY was just that much funnier if you`ve ever been Catholic.
However, everything that`s come lately just hasn`t peaked my interest. There`s MacGigli (don`t say it in a theater). Jersey girl, eh. Strikes Back, only gut-busting if you`re an actor.
K.S. was groundbreaking in the fact that he took a different pov than the H-wood norm, not archtypes but people we all KNEW from different points in our lives (the underage slut, the pot-head, the guy working through college at a crap job) and gave THEM a voice.
I really hope he goes back to it someday.
I assume you mean "would have" as opposed to "would of."
Why oh why do I even discuss things with people so stupid?
As long as you`re feeling bad for me, can you lay it on thick? I love to be pitied.
I suppose Smith`s making this because he never could equal the original, and his sycophantic fans have been begging for it.
And if you think I give a rat`s diseased rear end that anyone likes me, you`re stupider than I thought, which would make your IQ just south of a rotten turnip`s.
Palfas, learn what humor is.
Good Lord. Children these days . . .
Please just stop it. "Clerks" was very, very funny and broke a lot of new ground. I own a copy and watch it every couple of months. It`s genius.
Now--everything else you`ve done has been absolute crap. I`ll admit a passing fancy for *Chasing Amy*, but that`s it. *Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back*--stupid. *Dogma*--your own brand of "dogma." *Jersey Girl*--what were you thinking? And don`t get me started on *Mallrats*.
You`re probably a fine man, an intelligent and witty guy. You made a fine film. Please don`t make any more. Please, find something else to do. Why not write a new screenplay, something original, something to do with actual life? When you soapbox, Kevin, you hurt your films. When you try to relive the glory days, you just depress everyone.
Now, please stop.
