hey it maybe small and dirty but its good living compared to being homeless...wanting and needing are two differenes. Everyone saying how its sad... it goes to show youre spoiled...whats so sad about having a roof over your head? it may not be ideal..I can sure place a bet that its a hell of a lot better than living in a cardboard box on the streets

haha. is that why you wanna be the guy in the picture?

btw, from what i know, if you are considered a low income household, you get grant for those apartment for LIFE! there is a waiting line for that. and that`s why mostly old people live there. they`d rather buy high tech stuff or eat well than buy a flat that will eventually go down one day. -hongkongnese

WOW....I think i read at least 5 posts where people were calling them "japs". First of all, you are racist [email protected] Second of all, you are all IGNORANT racist [email protected], considering Hong Kong isn`t even in JAPAN, its in china you idiots.

Maybe if all those Japs stopped humping like jack rabbits after all the old people die off maybe they could knock down a couple walls? 500 sq ft. apartment.

Wow, that sums it up nicely.

Once we had a 600 square foot place and I thought that was bad. Oddly, the bathroom was bigger than the kitchen.

it`s not that amazing. my grandparents used to live in a flat like those. they very often have balconies, and to whoever asked about toilets, they have a door leading from the balcony to a separate bathroom.

atleast they have a place to sleep, this is probably the closest hong kong have to homeless, yet they still have homes

beats living in a cardboard box in america

The Japanese are different then Americans. The Japanese use there homes just to sleep. They spend most of there time out of the house. There either at work or having fun. So they dont need big houses. Thats why alot of houses in the the big citys are studios.

yeah when you live in 100 sq ft, the room never looks clean with all the stuff crammed into it.

No matter how poor they seem to be, they all have TVs. Also, some of those apartments looked alarmingly like my bedroom.

looks like the dorm room I lived in for 3 years (actually, mine was smaller)...but I don`t know how much longer I would be able to live there...

Oh well...it did seem to me that some of those people were very happy...others not so much...

Power to them for living in such conditions!

Wow, I couldn`t fit my bed in there! Granted I`m only 23 but the house I just bought (my first) comes in at 1500 square feet.

I think living this simple would be great though, less stress.

My fiancee is claustrophobic too...so that certainly wouldn`t work.

oh and yea the tehcnology is insane there, anything remotely old (4-5months on the market) is considered out of fashion and teh just throw it on the streets

It almost looked like a retirement-home without anyone to clean... until i found the pictures of the kids living there, but their rooms [email protected] look that good eigther. But where to putt all your stuff in such a small space? Hmm... A couple of them actually have it pretty tidy (but the other 90... :P)

I think those apartments are owned by the state...the conditions are less than ideal. I believe the toilet facilities are communal...I don`t think each apartment has a wc of its own.
