It is pronounced "SHINSHIA". (Consonants are pronounced more or less the same way as in English. "A" sounds like a in father, but shorter. "I" sounds like ee in meet, but shorter.)

It is pronounced "SUTEFANII". (Consonants are pronounced more or less the same way as in English. "A" sounds like a in father, but shorter. "I" sounds like ee in meet, but shorter. "U" sounds like oo in hook, but with less rounding of the lips. "E" sounds like e in met. Double vowels like "II" are held for twice the duration of single vowels.).....i hate my name now...

The website "translates" them accurately, theres almost no chance that your name translates into something nasty... unless your parents named you "Chin" ;-)

My name, Tom, comes out to Tomu, which happens to be the verb for "to become rich" in Japanese. Maybe its a sign? :-D

actually, it`s not what your name means. The japanese have two different ways to write: Hiragana -- the way THEY write and Katakana -- how to spell out sounds. in other words, any foreign words. so obviously your names are foreign and the way it is written is how it sounds.

-e them accurately thus far.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katakana

There`s the Romanizations; double-consonants are pronounced with a slight pause, so "Kassandora" would be spoken "kas, sandora". Just an FYI.

Yes, it`s literally "Ke-n-da-ru". This website is writing your name in Katakana, a syllabary system used in Japanese to write foreign (non-Chinese/Japanese) words or to emphasize Japanese words (think italics: used both for emphasis as well as indicating transliteration). These names don`t "mean" anything, in that they are simply the sounds from your own name shifted into a Japanese syllabary (think alphabet, but for syllables, not just singular sounds). Also, soad21, I hate to break it to you, but there`s no real way to translate a European name into Kanji. You can approximate the sounds, but a Japanese person would know that it was a faked name. Katakana is the only accepted way for European names to be written in Japanese; anything else would probably just seem insulting (like going to the Middle East and adding `al-` to your name so it sounds "Arabic"). So don`t worry, your name probably won`t mean anything ugly, and the website seems to translat
