lol you idiots, this was just a fun experiment pertaining to laser techniques that may help medical and science fields in the future. its just so unknown that people are trying to see what types of techniques they can achieve with such a medium...

it doesn`t mean they haven`t learned anything from this, it always comes in time what benefit this has to us. it may seem silly to you, but maybe in the next 50 years or so they will be able to make some small object to use on your body!

whatever, im dont with my rant lol

Okay. This is so stupid...who needs cures for aids or other medical conditions that could destroy the entire human race...what we really need is corrective eyewear for animals that don`t live more than 24 hours...is it just me, or by the time that the glasses are made, wouldn`t the fly that they are designed for be dead anyway?? You know the world is coming to an end when scientists are designing glasses for FLYS!!!!!!!!! There are seriously some people out there who need to get a life and invent something useful...this is definately NOT useful...

And before anyone laughs at her for this, she is right. I just Googled it and found several articles on it. I`m not sure how un-biased the articles are, but they do exist.

You know, I love reading this site because it serves a showcase for the idiocy that pervades humanity, regardless of geographical location.

First, no, it isn`t photoshopped. And it isn`t an old pic. Whoever says that is simply demonstrating that they are prone to quick judgements with little or no facts to back it up. In other words, you`re an idiot and don`t know it. Enjoy your life, just avoid any work that involves thinking or protecting lives.

Second, anyone who says this is a waste of time, or that it is pointless, again is just demonstrating their lack of abstract reasoning. Ever heard the phrase "practice makes perfect?" If one where to concern themselves with producing tiny mechanical parts using lasers, do you think they would find initial success building "little cameras?" Maybe, just maybe, they should practice on something easier. The accuracy and delicacy required to both build and mount those little glasses on the fly, is phenomenal, and is a high

It`s not about the f*cking glasses, it`s about the SIZE of the glasses.... Mooks.

That science can create something so small yet so elaborate is, frankly, frightening. And concerning micro-cameras and nanobots, I don`t feel we should be developing those, even for medical purposes. All throughout history nations have used the latest technology for military purposes. Imagine a bio-technological weapon the size of less than a thousandth of a millimeter and you`ll be scared too.

I`m sorry, but couldn`t they be doing more important things like... I don`t know... creating micro cameras to inject into the blood stream to help save lives? Creating nanobots to replace limbs or do surgery without opening someone up? Or maybe just curing cancer?

"The firm notes on its Web site that the process can create objects with high precision at scales of less than a thousandth of a millimeter."

Has anyone ever heard of "Prey"? I`m ready to get off this planet!

billy - the pic looked like it was taken from an electron microscope, which involves placing the object you wish to view in a vacuum. Putting it simply, that fly is dead.

The fly would probably have to be dead anyway, how else would they get the glasses on in the first place?
