And by the way, yeah, stealing is really bad and piracy is stealing and all. And yeah, when you pirate something, you`re not stealing just from the movie star or Bill Gates or whatever - you`re stealing from everyone else who worked on that. And the fact that something is expensive is no excuse. I can`t afford to buy Photochop for 600$, but I don`t go and steal it. (I use GIMP, which is free. :D ) The point is... actually, I can`t remember exactly what my point was.

But these ads still suck.

... How about reading more books instead of playing games... Then we wouldn`t have this problem... But then again, there are worse things... Ah, well...

Sometimes people get pirated versions, like it and then buy the real thing for better quality. Well, only sometimes, but still it`s not always bad.

Well i dont know what to say, i used to buy pirate PSX games all the time when i was about 6 years old, i dont any more obviosly, but it was just so easy to go to a car-boot sale (like a yard sale for all you americans lol, exsept its in a feld with people moving old crap from their cars to tables to sell) and buy pirate PSX games.

Look, regular hardworking people who write software are the ones you are hurting when you pirate software, not the heads of the company. You aren`t stealing from Bill Gates, you are stealing from some shmuck just like you that goes to work in the morning and write a couple of hundred lines of code every day for a living and gets paid the same you do. No, one person pirating a $300 program is not the same as stealing a $30,000 car, but 100 people stealing $300 programs is exactly the same. Do you think it`s morally OK to go to the GM assembly lot and steal a $30,000 car? It`s a victimless crime, too? Or is it?

"the one on the right is handling stolen goods"

You think we couldn`t have figured that out by the label on the disk-
"games copied on the 23/8/89"

Yet, not every software maker is Bill Gates but if the small-time company really wanted people to buy the product instead of pirating they should try to lower their prices. Maybe if that leads to a smaller rate of piracy, the big-time companies would follow so the average class people can actually afford to buy the product. Those F.A.S.T. idiots, (whoever those are) may think that making prices higher will make up for the fact that so many people are stealing, but in reality, all they are doing is making more people turn to buying or making pirated movies/software/music etc...

^^ yeah, you`re right... if I were head of some big software company or if I were Bill Gates, for example, I would be pissed if someone pirated my program and I lost the $300. I mean that is definately the same as stealing a $30,000 vehicle from the average working person.

(in case it isn`t obvious to someone, that`s called sarcasm)

Say you work for 3 years writing a piece of software, and decide to sell it for $50. Somebody steals it. You just lost $50. If a thousand people steal it, you lost $50,000. How is that different from somebody stealing a car? Piracy is theft. I can kind of understand all of you 13-17 year olds, because you haven`t actually worked, really, but any of you in the work force should know better. You work to make a product or provide a service, and you would be rightly pissed if somebody took that product or service without paying you. Movies, music, and software is no different.

It`s a mini Neidermyer! Remember, if you pirate, we sic the death squad on you!

They really whine about pirating too much. Remember, pirates are Queen Elizabeth I`s best friends. They get rid of the Spanish armada. England, one day uses pirates for help. The next, reports them to FAST.

^^Yeah, those had a little bit of a fascist undertone "Turn in your friends, get a reward, PIRACY IS BADDDDDDD!!!"-give me a break, write a comic about mutants or something, but teaching children through cartoons to take money for the price of a friends freedom rings a little.....police state-ish....

Funny post because it`s so "Leave it to Beaver". If they gave out a $2000 reward for turning in people I`d totally turn in everybody I hate, I`d be rich! (Of course I`d have to wipe my PC clean first...)

Stealing is stealing. You don`t have the money for the movie? Then don`t see it. You don`t have money for the software? Don`t use it. What`s so hard to understand?

First of all, I know the ads are about pirating software, but screw that for a sec:

I propose that for every person locked up for pirating films, we arrest one of the people who made movies so d*mn expensive to go to or buy in the first place.

back then technology sucked and the thousand Pounds ($2000) was probably worth turning the a$shole in!

nowadays technology is good and piracy isnt a big deal anymore. it isnt even considered piracy its trading mp3`s

Pirated software - well, if you bought the actual things, would you HAVE any money left to buy anything else?
You get the pirated stuff cheaper and you save more money.
Ah, well...

^^ I agree, people feel completely safe with pirating software and movies. What they should do is just have the whole S.W.A.T team go fxck that guy up who sells bootlegs on the corner and have it on CNN as like a bootleg crackdown. Also instead of using snitch a*s Johnny in the cartoon use like leatherface or something and have him just sneak in the little kids window who has the pirated software and cut his arms off. Now that`s scary, I wouldn`t pirate software if Leatherface were going to sneak in my room and cut my arms off, I`d delete all of my NES roms A.S.A.P.

People just dont feel THREATENED by it... at all....

No-one really cares about the whole thing of its filmed in a movie theatre.. you MAY have people walking in front of you and stuff... no1 cares about that any more.. you can watch it as many times as you like.. and its free... and you can copy it and spread it around a bit. lolz. :-)
And then of course.. you can just download them off the net is well.. its just so unpoliced now-a-days.. not that it was in the first place... but.. theres just no point..
And.. Btw.. not everyone works in a cinema.. and can get in for free etc.... And... not everyone can be bothered to go into a cinema.. with bratty kids throwing popcorn at you when your trying to watch the movie... which is SO annoying! argh!

Satenya.

I know this isn`t about pirated games, but I work in a cinema. I get to see films for free. I get free tickets for friends and family every month, and yet my dad still insists on bringing home pirated new movies. He actually pays for them, when he could go and see it on a 40-foot screen with perfect picture and surround sound for free.

I don`t get it...
