Americans who get Kanji or Chinese tattoos but don`t actually know anything about the languages are the epitome of stupid Americans.

And yet nobody has mentioned Engrish.com? I don`t know about tatooes, but Asians love English too, and make plenty of funny mistakes.

My mums friend got a tattoo in chinese lettering.
The tattooist told her it said her bfs name, but this chinese guy she worked with, burst out laughing, and explained it really said `egg fried rice and chips`.

Reminds me a little bit of the guy who had "chinese symbols" but they were actually curse words turned sideways, and they got into the media.

This is weird, I was just talking about this exact subject before I found this link! Madness!

Also sadly, Westerners dont get the kanji for what it says, just for how "nice" it looks.

Hehe, that`s cute. The thing is, English-speaking people get Chinese characters tattooed on them and have no idea what they mean because they don`t speak it. Chinese people, most of them speak some sort of English. So, not so easy to fool them. ;-)

so many people i see have the word for love or something the wrong way round or written wrong, it`s so funny. i drew the word chicken on my friend telling her it meant beauty and she didn`t realise.

i think a tattoo in your native laguage that says like pride or courage should have more meaning foreign laguage tattoos are stupid.. unless its like a latin phrase... well only if it has a good meaning to you. yah actualy any tattoo should have good meaning to you
