Wow, his face looked really messed up.
The sport still seems fun, though!

the 3 levels of crashing:
1:a fall
2:eating dirt
3:(the level this guy reached)becoming one with the dirt on impact

2 attempts by the SAME person. The second run was with an "experimental" bike he`d built. Obviously, the junction where the frame meets the fork downtube wasn`t up to par with the "stock" bike he`d ridden on the first run.

`He broke his neck, both legs, dislocated both shoulders, shattered one of his arms and did something to his spine.`

How badly did he break his legs? He was standing there stripped *God knows WHY he wasn`t in an ambulance* But there must have been some pain if he`s being supported by his broken bones

For one there is no such thing as a wheel lock. and anyway the frame snaped at the headtob because of the stress of the rocks, the guy`s weight and force that it was taking. those bikes were only made just for that but they make them too light and worry so much about the arodinamics. ive seen the whole doclamentary on this and that video same exact video was shown, and i think that it was the same guy that they were doing the doclement on the same guy too

let`s analyze everything and show people how smart we are (as if they care)^^ this is to everyone who uses all 1000 words to type a post and explain stuff in their logical manner, thinking somebody cares.

^seriously. and again, calm it down. people are so defensive. did he say anything about how awesome he was, or even imply it? no. he was simply offering his opinion on the video. i think therapy should be mandatory. for everyone.

He wa sin such a state of shock none of this occured to him AFTER the hospital told him
I saw him on a TV programme a year and a half later still recovering in a wheel chair which casts on and a neck and back brace.

Poor guy

Yea, not too many bikes are made to go 107.5 mph. Then add on top of that the rough terrian. Either there was a crack in the molding or just a weak joint that caused it to fall apart.

It is his fault for not making sure his helmet was on tight though. I still can`t figure out why they took his clothes off on the mountain though. I know if you have a wreck like that here, they may cut the shirt open or something, but usually you are in the ambulance by then.

yea it seems like the whole fork and handle bar assembly came off the bike frame.

I can`t help but think it wasn`t entirely his own fault. He had to be going pretty fast and most bikes can`t handle that kind of speed. He had to be using a fiberglass bike especially built for this, in which case there could have been a fault in the molding- a crack or something- that he wouldn`t have been able to see. Because it wasn`t his wheel that came off, the thing came apart at the joint where the front assembly meets the body. Other than that, theres only so much you can do to keep a helmet on you`re head- crashing at 110 miles an hour, (if I am right to assume that the guy the showed racing down the mountain after his crash was the guy that crashed) doesn`t leave you with many options. Its coming off, weather it takes you`re jaw with it or not.
Still, its gotta suck.

Well if you choose to ride your bike down a mountain, it`s your own stupid fault if something like this happens, you should expect it!
