Doesn"t let a broken neck and concussion keep her from cheering.

"But the 18-year-old sophomore
did anyone else catch that? usually wen ur 18 ur a senior...hmm i guess the whole blonde thing is true" - lexmex and others

Some people on here are not too bright (blonde maybe??), this is a college/university. Most freshman would be 17-18, sophomores would be 18-19, etc, etc...this isn`t highschool peeps. Smacks Forehead.

What a ditz. Then again, one`d have to be as a prerequisite to believing cheerleading is a sport.

Ugh, my girlfriend is a cheerleader... Hope that doesn`t happen to her. I would be seriously deprived of certain activites for awhile... Ahh I`m kidding I`m not that heartless. Seriously though it would suck.

Look on the bright side... when cheerleaders suffer any perminant brain damage, it isn`t like there`s much to lose anyway.

I gotta say I agree with most of you and specially with subelixer. These people love attention, I mean they are cheerleaders. I bet the cheerleader guys probably had a slap fight afterwards about whose fault it was. Ha!

She probably had no idea that she had broken her neck after that fall. She wasn`t watching herself fall, and more than likely she was in shock afterwards. Like someone else mentioned, when some people go through trauma, they don`t realize the severity of it until later. Besides, most of the time (not always) you can`t really tell what you`ve broken until you`ve been x-rayed. But I think it was cool of her to do what she did at the end. I would have done something similar if I had something like that happen in the sport that I do. I hope that she has a successful recovery.

Im sure it was just another "hey look at me!" moment. Probably the highlight of her sad little year, all those people paying attention to HER. Probably lapped up the attention.....

Wasn`t it a University (Southern Illinois or something...) so it`s acceptable for an 18 year old to be a sophomore.

CORRECTION: Blonde Americans are stupid.

Okay, from my training as a first responder and EMS volunteer, I know that if her injuries were as serious as a broken neck, she would have been completely immobilized with her arms strapped to the stretcher with Spider Straps. Enough said. Notice the shot of her falling was a far-away shot. Couldn`t really see her fall. Just another desperate cry for attention from a cheerleader.

You guys are being a bit harsh. Obviously, she wasn`t hurt too much. If she had hurt herself enough to be able to break her neck by moving her hands, I doubt she`d be able to move her arms. They would have secured her hands. Heck, I`d be surprised if she was awake.

Cheerleaders are absolutely programmed. I doubt she did this to show she is ok. She probably did it out of habit!!!!! I`m dead serious too. My sister was a cheerleader and she drove me up the ef`n wall...still brings back bad memories. She did her cheers constantly, riding down the road, walking in the mall, sitting at home, watching tv at home...if she heard a song come on that they practiced a dance to she would start doing her cheer and dance..just suddenly..aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! lol I bet you 1 million dollars she couldn`t have kept from doing the cheer even if she wanted too...and I know I would win that bet too...(takes deep breath)..that video annoys me

Back in the day when your truly was a cheerleader I whacked my head (with-not a typo- my frickin` pom pons!) and got this massive bump on my head and I didn`t even go "ow-that kinda hurt..." Just kept on going...
Then when I got home I saw the bump in the mirror and it had about the same diameter of a pop can.
The pom pons had really hard plastic handles and I REALLY whacked my head on one of them. I`m saying that because I know somebody`s gonna be all, "u hit ur head on a soft thingie?"

I bet every paramedic and doctor who saw that were cringing. "Neck break! Stop moving! Aggh!"

Cheerleaders must undergo some serious brain conditioning. Play the fight song and they...just...can`t...help...it...

duuuuum dum dum DUM da dum, duuum DUM DUM DUUMMM!

And to the people who said she shouldn`t have been moving, I`m sure if it was that serious the paramedics would have told her to stop.

fair play to her. Reminds me of bert trautmann - manchester city goalkeeper who broke his neck in the 1956 fa cup final, in the days before substitutions (and presumably medical experts near the pitch), and he finished the match, including a save at the feet of one of the opposing players. City won. Trautmann was out injured for a year.

Yet another example of how stupid cheerleaders are. What if she`d broken her back, and doing that had severed her spine or something? She could`ve killed herself, just because of a stupid basketball game! I`m not saying basketball`s stupid, I used to play myself, but come on, who in thier right mind would do that and risk further injury? She must`ve been knocked silly.

The spirit was good. But everyone must realize that after a trama like that most people are very clueless as to what just happened and the serveness of it. So they can get hit by a truck and get up and keep on walking or running. They are still in shock...
