Tsk tsk! Look at all you sen-si-tive, sen-si-tive Europeans!

"America isn`t the center of the universe y`know!"

"Americans have to use the cables to communicate out the other direction too y`know!"

"You guys are just trying to make yourself sound great...but you aren`t y`know!"

Jesus! All the man was TRYING to say was that if you`re connecting to this web site from anywhere other than N.America (including Canada and Mexico), that you`ll probably be tying up an ip session across these cables somewhere.

Get your finger off the trigger.

wow, so we managed to insult Americans from a map?
itls true that it communicates both ways
but since this started in the US it sort of branched off from there
this isn`t "America`s the center if the world"
it`s just a map that shows where the fecking cables are
don`t read into it so much

I really see no point in this link, to be honest. But I do sense another `all hail America! Ain`t it great! You will bow down before your Yankee overlords` arguement forming, cos it seems thats all this link sets out to do.

On top of what Ajkian said, it`s not just people outside the US using the cables :-|. How do you think people from North America communicate with people from other countries. Its not a one way system.

Oh, speaking of cables...
I need to go to the toilet and lay some cable myself.
Bye.
That`s my toilet in America, by the way. You know, the center of the world.

What happens when one of these undersea cables has a problem? I guess it`s way too costly to repair eh? Prolly, they just lay more new cable down. Tsk.

Not all internet traffic goes throug the cables. people still using a 56k modem (surprisingly still quite a few people do in the UK) use the same routes as voice calls. In Cornwall is a great big Sattelite Ground Station owned and run by BT (British Telecom). Voice calls all get routed through satelites, via this uplink station. also the transatlantic cables terminate at the same facility :) for more information click here
