Most expensive Turkish film ever, and it stars Billy Zane and Gary Busey.

I`m Turkish and I think this movie`s moreso in the vein of something like Armageddon. This isn`t artsy Turkish cinema, it`s just some crap "blockbuster" type film (which never really do well and get mocked just as much in Turkey)

Considering how much fictionally biased crap Hollywood dishes out in it`s war movies etc, this is no different, just aimed at a different audience with a different perpective.

A little variety never hurt anyone.

Gee, what a surprise. Another gutless weasel using a fake new account (psyco392) to post something inflammatory. But I guess there`s "no denying" what he`s saying, that`s why he needs to remain anonymous to do so.

why must we hate on each other as a people in whole? why not just hate an individual person? like, hitler totally sucked ass but i don`t blame all the austrians or germans for it. they didn`t do it, HE did. so why they hatin on americans they don`t even know? triflin, i tell ya. dat is sum triflin shizz.

xDefilerx, you could say the same about KnightmareOH. The west coast is notorious for its ant-Americanism (Hollywood, San Francisco, etc.).

I use the name Doppel when I am away from home. I use the name Indigo M at home. Indigo M was my original name, but my computer is screwed up and I cannot log out under this name. Since I cannot log out of my Indigo M account, I cannot use it elsewhere.

That`s a joke. You misrepresent yourself EVERY TIME you post a comment on this website.

be careful what you wish for... non-nice individuals. I think Dubya should organize 20 soldiers to march into a Turkish movie theater at the end of the movie. And just stare at the horrified movie-goers...

They have their propaganda... We have ours. mollena69 is right, most of the world is full of idiots who want to believe what they want to believe, (Right, Doppel?) nobody`s mind is going to be influenced by this stuff unless they want to believe it.

zoinks, I never said most Arabs are terrorists.

Hollywood, which has proven itself time and again to hate America with a passion, constantly makes movies that carry anti-American sentiments (Syriana and War of the Worlds are the most recent).

I could care less what the Turks are doing. If this makes them happy, so be it. Our own movie industry had to come a very long way before it finally realized anything about cultural sensitivity anyway.

It`s Just a movie. War turns everyone involved, on both sides, savage in a way. This movie is just showing the other point of veiw. In any conflict either side is going to have an idealized veiw of themselves, and a "demonized" view of the enemy-it`s the only way war can seem justified, though it never is.

doppel regarding your first paragraph:yes there r countless holywood movies & yes the majority of terrorists r arabs however that dos not mean that the majority of arabs r tererosits tho

anytime you see an arab in an american movie all that follows are simply jokes about him being arabic if anything unusual. This is far from demonizing.

Either way, just let those turks do as they feel, they get out of line, we might make that movie true.

budsbd, there are NOT countless Hollywood movies that portray Arabs as terrorists. Even if there were, it would be justified because the majority of terrorists are Arabs.

Back to the article, check out this paragraph:

"The movie, which reportedly cost about $10 million (euro 8.3 million), is a work of fiction and does not purport to level allegations against American troops. It is part of a genre of popular culture in Turkey that demonizes the United States."

Do we look that stupid? Of COURSE this movie levels allegations against America. The Turks should hold their tongues when the conversation turns to rude cultures.

i really don`t get why this Gary Busey guy (is he any famous?) accepted this role. I mean, come on. He may not agree with the war and everything, but it is afterall his country being demonized.

as to that movie, well, there are countless Hollywood ones that portrair arabian men as nothing but terrorist. suppose they have the right to do whatever it is they want.

Movies are fiction, fiction reflects reality. It is a fact that many american made films demonize other folk`s cultures, and the flip side is the same. Whatever. I`m willing to bet that it isn`t going to change anyones`s mind...if someone is anti-america, they`ll remain so. If someone has a balanced view of america, that would remain intact as well.

Turks are the real savages... when they invaded cyprus in 1974 they had no mercy on its people. they would go out at night and find pregnant cypriot women and place bets if the baby was a boy or girl tie her to a tree and cut her open..
then they would cut off the womans nipples dry them in the sun and make them into worry beads.. and they have the nerve to call americans savages.. i dont agree with EVERYTHING america is doing in these middle eastern countrys but to call your ally`s savages and barbarians? and if anyone is so curious why i took this to the heart i happen to be a cypriot and it piss me off every time i go there to see an island as small as it is seperated in half and to hear these stories that my father has told me about some of his best friends being killed off during the war. im sorry if this gives turks a bad image but hell it happend and there is no denying it.

I can`t wait until we are free from oil dependence.

Then we can let the middle east rot, as it should.

^^ LOL good one manorrd. crazy Canadians with ur zed.
gary busey takes work where he can get it...he is after all...a washed up has been. what wouldve been funny is if they approached dennis leary for the role...imagine the "bloodfest" that wouldve ensued there. youd have to be familiar with dennis leary`s work to know what im talking about.

I am not surprised. After all, everyone knows that the U.S. is responsible for everything bad.

-all the world`s missing socks
-those hard toothpaste globs on our bathroom sinks
-every disease known to man
-nosebleeds
-death, hunger, starvation
-lost horseraces
-feminine itch

That`s because Americans are savages! :-P

And I don`t know whether to pity, laugh at, or lose all respect for Gary Busey. :-?
