And skill goes with style. If you play metal then your skill develops in fast runs and heavy rhythm picking. If you play jazz you develop your skill in scales, bending notes and such.
You can`t say that James Hetfield (Metallica) is better than Jimi Hendrix (or vice versa), they have completely different styles of music with different techniques implemented in their music. So maybe it`s not hard for you, but the time it would take to master what he does takes commitment and time.
Son--you`re an idiot. Deal with facts.
You don`t know what you`re talking about.
And anybody who thinks this is crap has absolutely no idea what musical talent is.

I`ve never seen a guitar played in that way before and out of all Vai`s tracks i`ve never heard something as awesome as that.
I`d say this guy knows is stuff, and he has a bloody nice guitar aswell.
I remember we listened to that in 6th grade and had to explain what the song is about.
How stupid do you think we are?
Stanley Jordan vs. Buckethead? Isn`t that rather like your intellect and mine clashing? In that you would lose so badly that there is no need for a competition.
Oh my God. I`ve got to call all of my friends. This dude actually believes "Buckethead" plays better than Stanley Jordan.
I suppose you think that "Buckethead" could play circles around Django Rheinhardt, too? And I`m assuming that you`d put that Wes Borland could just make Big Bill Broozny look stupid?
I`ve never seen such depth of stupidity.
I`m sick of all you people saying he sucks. I know why you are. You`re jealous. When I was first teaching myself guitar, I was jealous of those better than me. As I`ve gotten better, I realized that you shouldn`t be jealous, but embrace and try to learn from it.
This dude was awesome. I really liked when he actually played that song. John Lennon would be proud.
Excuse me while I go woodshed for another 10 years to hope to even breath the same air as that guy... |-(
What kind of a stupid thing is that to say?
Of course opinions can be wrong:
"I think the sky is green.""It`s not green. It`s blue.""So? It`s green. That`s just my opinion!"
Ignorance = bliss. I suppose if you`re stupid, you`re happy being stupid. Enjoy your pitiful life, `thecranberry.`
I totally agree with Enohead. Generally, this type of music don`t appeal to me. A good guitarist ain`t someone who can play 15000 notes a second, its someone who plays memorable tunes. See: John frusciante, James Dean Bradfield, John Squire, even Noel Gallagher. Not technically fantastic guitarists, but very entertaining.
Your opinions are wrong. Period. Deal with it. Nothing will change the fact that you are wrong. Get it, yet? Wrong. W.R.O.N.G. As in--not right. As in--you are WRONG.
SRV was a wonderfully gifted player, a man who really explored the sonic capabilities of his instrument. His covers of Hendrix, T-Bone Walker, Albert King, and other artists were amazing. But, despite your worship, he was a limited player.
That was, my son, Stanley Jordan. He is an amazing jazz player.
If you are self-taught, then it`s clear that you don`t even have the knowledge to make the kinds of claims that you`re making. Do a little reading on music history before you come to class, kid. You might learn something.
Biggold take your nsync cd out of the cd player,do some research, the realize you have no clue what your talking about. Srv had more talent in one pubic hair than this guy will ever have.
but without a doubt he has some amazing talent, i loved the beginning.
done and done
I don`t give a rat`s filthy a*ss how long you`ve been playing.
NO ONE POSTING ON THIS BOARD COULD PLAY BETTER. PERIOD. DEAL WITH IT.
If you could, you would. What a frigging MORON: "I could do better." God, the world is full of idiots.
An Malmsteen? Better than Stanley Jordan?? Hah! Hahahhahahahahahahha!!! Ahahahahahhaha!!!
Malmsteen is a musical mastrubator, the worst of his kind, a testoserone junkie.
Jordan is an artist.
There`s no doubt about it, Stanley Jordan is a master guitar player and a genius. This was probably filmed when he was a guitar student.
ARE YOU KIDIDNG MESHUT THE F UCK UP
all I can say is...
Who was the fool who posted that he "fluffed" a note?
Ignoramus. Go buy a Kenny Wayne Shepherd album.
(BTW: SRV was good, but this guy plays circles around him.)
Shame Sebastian is still only a tramp.
I personally (this is personal taste, mind you) don`t care for technical prowess. I`d much rather hear someone like B.B. King play one note with soul than hear a hundred notes with technical precision. I might as well listen to someone clacking away at a typewriter.
That being said - yeah, this guy is skilled, but it just didn`t move me. Know what I mean?
and some more music:http://www.mp3.com/stanley-jordan/artist...
You guys are right. He sucks!
and for the record bands like slipknot arent metal. I also can tell from your avatar and profile and such you think your a little tough guy. But its ok since your 16 and dont know any better. :-)
