This has to be fake. It is biologically impossible to grow more than one species of fruit on the same tree. That would be like a dog giving birth to a rabbit, a mouse, and a cat.

It`s definately true, I`ve seen them out here in CA for citris fruits-- it`s not biologically impossible, believe it or not there are some differences between plants and mammals.

Biologically it is possible to grow several different fruits on one tree. The process is called "grafting."

Yes, grimgyrl has it right its called grafting. They probabley did use grafting to make the fruit salad tree. So Doppel and mooseyfate you guys are the ones who have to do more research, or "researcg" as mooseyfate says. :-)

    Thats pretty cool.
I remember a while back, my dad merged two apple trees together in our backyard so half the tree did green apples, other half was red. There were also some hybrids :)

Very handy when you don`t have enought room to grow several trees...esp. lemon trees. If my Opa never cut his, it would have grown over the whole house!

Here in Florida, there are a lot of the Citrus hybrids. My neighbor has one that grows lemons, oranges and one that we haven`t figured out yet. We assume it`s a cross, but maybe not.

I love growing fruit and flowers, but I hate all of the freaking wasps that sort of thing attracts.

The rabbits are nice, though. Rabbits are cute. Yay.

if you grafted them wouldn`t they just turn into one weird type of fruit and not stay separate?

Well, this did not seem possible to me, but the more I think about it, the more it seems like it could be true. I want a fruit salad tree. That would be so awesome. My neighbor used to have an apple tree, but she cut it down, because she got tired of getting home to a dozen kids lying in her yard eating apples.
