Thanks for the article, Knoton.

What a horrible way to go about inventing stuff. He creates a bubble that can bounce on the ground, but he took absolutely no notes and thus can never recreate it.

I think I`d like a nitric acid bubble.

Yep, the colored bubble chemistry is clever... but I`m working on platonic-solid shaped bubbles... cube, tetrahedron, and the tricky icosahedron. Now that`s some fancy chemistry!

Spherical bubbles are so last week.

Lame, Babish, but fun if u were a little kid. It keeps those nasty little kid`s minds from drawing beautiful colours on the walls!

It seams like it`s a machine that it is making them. When the kids try to blow them it just do not work. The regular bubbles are alright with me anyway!

Uggh, it seems no one actually READ the popular science article because it SAID why this is a big deal. Go try putting food coloring in bubble solution go ahead... I`ll wait. It doesn`t make the bubbles colored that`s because the dye doesn`t stick to the surfactant, the chemical that makes bubbles be bubbles, it decreases waters surface tension allowing a stable bubble. If the dye doesn`t stick it drips to the bottom. So what these guys did is first make a dye that sticks to surfactants and second make that same dye disappear. They made it disappear by making it out of a box like molocule that depending on its size absorbs and reflects different wavelengths of light. When light heat or pressure is applied to the dye these box molocules break, changing their shape in such a way that they no longer absorb or reflect light so that they are colorless. There is a reason you`ve never seen a colored bubble before. Its `cause its damn hard.

Looks like fun. I`ll buy a container when they come out although I think that I bubbles are still more fun. Call me old fashion, but I just think a clear bubble will never die.

The impossible part is adding dye to soap, water, and glycerine while still keeping it lighter than air, making it non-toxic, and keeping it from staining.

"Now, after ten years of experiments and discoveries, the creative minds at Ascadia have done what scientists claimed was impossible..."

What`s so impossible about adding colouring to soap, water and glycerine? Who are these scientists?

Turns out there`s some pretty hefty science going into these. Specifically to make the color actually disappear, truly disappear. http://tinyurl.com/ca9ga
Its a popular science article.

Those looked cool. I am going to suggest seeing if our toy store could carry them when they are released. I think my kids would love them.

Oh, and the first post is SOOOOOOO lame. Why do people do that? That`s like the internet equivalent to the equally lame car game of "slug bug". If you don`t know what that is, you are blessed.
