I lie a lot too... I guess that could possibly work but I think I just look all over the place when I lie, and probably also when I`m just talking normally.

Dunno if you would be able do this all the time, cause for me, i never directly look at in the eyes of the person i`m talking to, seems kinda gay.

That works! Except for the last one:

Down and To the Right
Indicates: Internal Dialog (Ai)
This is the direction of someone eyes as they "talk to themselves".

My friend just looked straight ahead...

What does it mean if you just keep eye contact at the person you`re talking to? You are talking to them, after all.

this is crazy stupid, i think. Yes its interesting to read but that doesn`t mean everything interesting to read is true. I tried it on my 7 year old cousine and she just looked me in the eye the whole time even if she is telling the truth and i know it.

"Mafiaborn is correct. A right-handed person`s strong side of their brain is the left side, as a left-handed person`s strong side of their brain is their right side. This may prove to be quite handy when not wanting to be lied to." wait does that mean left habnded people look to the right when lying, and visa versa for right handed people?

I can tell whether a persons lying or not anyways.

sceptical about this theory. not (according to me) accurate since everybody`s got their own ways/habit of responding. i remember lying a few times looking upwards side/side and then other lies downwards side/side...and there`s also the "look-into-victim`s-eyes" and the "stare-right-through-victim"- modes of lying that i do.
maybe that article only applied to "average" liers since the scientists test and calculate the average of a bunch of people and use that answer stating THAT`S how you can detect a lier, put that in a book and make money out of the averages... or maybe i`m just naive.

wud like to read that book sometime before i die tho.

Everybody lie all the time. Nobody says always the truth. That happens everyday. Humans adapt the facts so that they might be undertandable to others. The truth it`s always reconstructed. We lie every single day and all day long. That`s a Human error.

Thats really cool. I just asked my brother all these questions and his eyes moved accordingly to how he was thinking.

yep its all got to do with sides of the brain, linear+fact versus abstract+made up...

This doesn`t work with everyone, I`m a fairly good liar, and I know how to not look down and to the left now. :P

I usually look either everywhere or straight into their eyes when talking to someone.

I`m not sure this is accurate. We just did similiar test in our class and no one could figure out when we were telling the truth or lying. I do remember looking down when I was lying though as francesux said so that might be more accurate then this.

yep. i majored in psyche (though i`m not a psychologist) and i remember similar studies were always debunked. the best general rule is when a person looks down they`re lying and up they`re telling the truth.

I hardly believe this thing works, why would they look a certain direction with random questions like that? I`ll test it, but I doubt it works. Seriously.

*** As with other signs of lying, you should first establish and understand a persons base-behavior before concluding they are lying by the direction of their eyes.

If I really want to get away with a lie, I come up with it before hand and play it out in my head. This method probably only works if the person is coming up with the lie on the spot.
