An interesting chart showing how his ratings have moved with events.

Oh, that was me who sent in all the "no opinion" votes!

And why did it go up after 9/11?

I wasn`t saying Congress made the decisions. I was simply saying that poll questions are not reliable. I was saying that when people are not happy - about gas prices, about whatever - and then you ask them "do you approve of the way <x> is doing their job?" 9 times out of 10, they`re going to say no.
Blaming Bush for leading our country into the dumpster is like blaming Ronald McDonald when you get a bad hamburger.

But Congress did not make the desicions Bush did that got such low approval ratings. A person of average intelligence realizes where blame should go. Bush took an oath to lead our contry, and he did- right into the Dumpster.

These are polls of typical american citizens (read: average idiots). If you asked the same people "Do you think Congress is doing a good job?" after something bad happened, they would still all say, "no."

Sorry, guys, but approval ratings for the president are indeed approval ratings for the president. And if they disapprove of "events", of course they disapprove of Bush. He got us into them. There is no hidden aganda. This is the cold, hard truth the radical right tries to find excuses for. Face facts. Bush sucks, and people are finally becoming smart enough to realize that. If only they`d had the intelligence to think for themselves before the last election.

Good call Enohead. I think a lot of the drop after 9/11 occurred due to the fact that the economy hit an incredible low at that point. And streb, it looks like the approval rating was actually high before he sent troops to those countries, at which point the ratings starting going down. Again, I think this is a causality issue--the graph doesn`t show what else was happening at that time. I think the graph maker was trying to make a point (read: had a hidden agenda)....

I don`t know - I`ve never put much stock in Presidential approval ratings. I think people disapprove of events more than they disapprove of the President. The President is just a place to aim your disapproval or approval.

But, the rating did not rise as much for Iraq as Afganistan, and during conflict his rating kept going down

Interesting how his approval ratings go up everytime he invades a country.

Look out Iran.

Circle, that was the POINT, I think the first two posters were playing on the fact that he cant be elected anymore. No more Blair either next time... I wonder if this is good or bad with those two gone...

None of us are voting for him next election! He has no more terms left! He can`t be elected any more!!! Of course, if Karl Rove succeeds in establishing a permanent Republican hold on the White House and possibly the Congress and the Court, like he supposedly wants to do, then we`re all majorly screwed anyway. The only satisfaction I`m getting from his being elected is the fact that it`s been only one year into his second term, and already he`s been hit with a good helping of the second-term blues. Presidents almost always have had more big problems during their second terms, and I wonder what the next three years will bring. :-?
