When you print something, the government can use it to track you down.

while i don`t find this a direct threat to myself, it is none the less a bit disturbing. but of small concern in comparison to much of the other things our government does.

i am wondering how they link the printer serial number with the person who printed it...?

i acctually dont find anything wrong with this. this doesnt mess p what your printing, and unless they acctually have the papers you printed on they cant find out any info. plus, its so far only xerox that has been disocered to do this, not all printer companies do this. so itys only if you use xerox printers. solution? use a home printer, and they cant use those little dots. they would need a special ink, and you would fin that ink when you try to replace the normal innk.

Well, I for one don`t have to worry about this since I live in Ted Kaczynski`s old shack. I type all of MY manifestos with manual typewriters! What? They can ID those, too? poo.

I just hope that it’s not used to track down people who create smi-subversive literature. It’d certainly be a civil liberties violation.

Nacaz2, you know, the US government does spy on it’s own people. Criminal or not, if you are doing things that set off any red flags, they probably have a file on you. I had a neighbor who was a member of the American Communist Party (something that is completely legal). After he was arrested for (peacefully) protesting at the DNC he was informed that because of his affiliations that he already had a file and that he had better chose his battles more carefully in the future.

Anyways, I didn’t mean to get on a rant.

I`d be guessing its main use would be to help track down people who leave annonymous notes threatning people of owning up to crimes
