"american journalism is so corrupt"

Like that isn`t the case for all journalism. A more correct sentence would be journalism is so corrupt.

"Quick! Grab this safety rope! There`s no way you can survive in such tumultuous currents!"
"See, America! This is the peril I`m in!" *falls off, commence cartoon drowning.*

*rolleyes* American journalism is so corrupt.

I just saw this on the daily show, there was another clip too that happens after that and she says something along the lines of "now that we`re in deeper water, as you can see because my oar goes down 3 or 4 feet" and then like 100 yards behind her is a guy just standing in the once again ankle deep water.

First of all, that was on the Today show, which is something like the single most watched news show in the universe or something ridiculous like that.

Secondly, they do things like that all the time. Even the anchors tend not to take themselves too seriously.

Having seen it when it happened, I felt like the people walked behind her on purpose. After that happens, Matt asks her if people just walked by, then she laughs and they walk by again IMMEDIATLEY, and they commence making jokes and whatnot.

actually just click on their screen name and it should take you to their profile, and there should be the same picture there too and it should work.
about the link, kinda reminds me of teh cartoons when somebody is drowning, and somebody walks up and tells tehm to get up when its only knee high water

P.S. Is anyone else on the board having trouble looking at avatar pics? Most of the ones I click on aren`t able to enlarge. Do we need to invent avatar Viagra?

"lose" = the opposite of win.

"loose" = the opposite of tight.

Make a note.

I think what would actually be worse than this is if the boat got stuck , and you hear a big * thunk* by the oar.

Row, row, row your boat gently down the street.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily while I use my feet.

I live in southern N.J. and we got just over half the rain they got up north, thats what it looked like in places of my town, not the whole town though. I think we got like 20 inches or something over the entire week, the ground wasn`t saturated though so most of it didn`t stay on top.

Why do these reporters get in the water... stand next to it, we will believe you that it`s deep. I was watching the news today, a reporter in high heels and dress pants was standing in ankle deep water. What is the point?

"it`s really hard to control a boat or canoe in it" uh-huh it would be when the boat is scraping along the road

Hm, I`m not sure if I would blame her. If my city flooded like that, I`d take a canoe ride down my street too. Maybe.

Male 194
Because they DO try to make it seem worse than it is. Remember when they said over 10,000 ppl died in New Orleans and the death toll turned out to be around 1,000? How over 200 ppl died in the superdome and it turned out to be 6? Are you a journalism major?

Male 650
Why are you assuming that she`s trying to make it seem worse then it actually is? She doesn`t seem very distressed by it.. and is almost making light of the situation.

Honestly, its obviously a local news bit, not CNN.

All news is like that, its just that all the other news shows manage to not suck as bad as the Today show.

Derrr! Flooding bad! Need boat to get across! *watches people walk by* .......derrr!!!

^^Totally.

The Today show was trying to say that the Defense Dept. tried to script soldiers when asking Bush questions (which turned out to be false).

Then they show this gem live on TV a few minutes later.

Makes you wonder about all kinds of crap that we see as `news` on the ol` telly.

Male 992
The best part is moments earlier they were ragging on Bush for staging the questions with his troops! lol
