this isn`t about being born in the eighties, you would have to be born in the mid to late seventies to appreciate this. bsr, i was in my sixth grade homeroom wearing green pants and lavender converse shoes when i heard about challenger. man, i`ve seen a few of these websites, and every one makes me ache for those simple days again.

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
`Cause your friends don`t dance and if they don`t dance
Well they`re no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance

;-)

You used to hold in your head the thought that all those gold chains on Mr. T actually looked kinda cool and the thought that Mr. T made millions seemed rational to you at the time.

thats my favorite one.

I was born in 88, but my uncle was born in 77 and I spent a lot of time with him growing up, so I got the 80s "culture" but I didn`t exactly live it.. except for a certain few on that list:
You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off." Who doesn`t know the Karate Kid?
You can remember watching Full House and Saved by the Bell for endless hours. Maybe not Saved by the Bell, but definately Full House.
You know that another name for a keyboard is a "Synthesizer." Ok, maybe its not 80s for me, but being a music person, I do know that.
You know where to go if you "wanna go where everybody knows your name." Hehe my mom watched Cheers all the time!
You own any cassettes or albums. When I was 2 I knew how to work a record player.
You actually thought "Dirty Dancing" was a REALLY good movie. My favorite movie when I was 2! I didn`t understand it, but loved it. It was a really good movie!
I may not have grown up in the

I was born in 1979. I remember most of those all of those things but they did leave out some stuff for it to have been such a thourough list. I was in Kindergarden when the Challenger blew up. I remember watching it on the TV in the gym with my class and thinking that it was "supposed" to do that and wondering why the teacher got upset. I miss the 80`s though. They were rad. Heh.

You`ve recently horrified yourself by using any one of the following phrases:
"When I was younger"
"When I was your age"
"You know, back when..."
"Because I SAID so, that`s why"
"What the HECK is this noise on the radio?"
"Just can`t (fill in the blank) like I used to"
*sigh*

slippery: internet was 80s, it`s just the web that was 90s. I played my first online game in 1987, didn`t know it was that at the time though. :-)

OMG!! I grew up in the 80s and remember all of these like a little movie in my head. "Wax on, Wax off... Right a circle, Left a circle...Now show me sand the floor(opposite direction)...Paint the fence, Up, Down...Paint the house Left, right Breath in through the nose, out through the mouth...in(huuup),out(whoosh)...Now you know Karate"

ahhhh, good times, good times.

We were supposed to watch the Challenger lift off in school (5th grade) but the teacher was out and the sub couldn`t work the tv. That would have been pretty traumatic if we did see it live.

It`s weird how every generation has a major event happen and can remember exactly what they were doing when they heard about it. My father`s was the JFK assasination, mine was the Chanllenger disaster, and my kid`s is 9/11.

Interesting list for interesting times. Looks like the first decade of this century will be unclassified like the 90s as well.

I wish I was born long ago to grow up in the 80`s. I always watch I love the 80`s (they`re making a third!) and I`m really into possibly the best decade of any century. Well, the 1780`s were pretty sexy.
