I`m sorry, I just can`t find the UFC entertaining. Half the time they are just on the ground hugging each other or something. Not that boxing is anymore interesting..

And by "hugging each other" you mean trying to induce so much pain that your opponent must tap-out, or trying to make the other guy pass out / knock him out. Same thing, I guess..... no

Showing how fast or how well you can kick someones ass is not a martial art. Showcasing your the skills of being graceful, self controlled, modest, fast, and patient, would be martial arts. Most of the time the people on there show only one, or none of those skills.

Fighting shows "beauty of the human body"?
How about not fighting showing the complexity of the human mind and a renaissance painting showing the beauty of the human body.
I think lightweight boxing for points is a sport, I don`t think two oxes pummeling each other into a pulp is.

and rammstein is right. Its kinda like you know how to paint but your not a world famous artist.

Most Martial Arts arn`t actually ment for fighting, but used for finding inner patience and peice... They toatally abuse the purpose of M.A.

Notice most of them come from buddhist countries like Japan.

But hell nothing more entertaining then 2 guys kicking the poo out of eacher other in a all out match...

Er, yeh, butdid nobody else notice the fact that he didn`t actually touch him?

I really don`t understand how people can find this type of staged crap entertaining. It`s just like Wrestling, it`s actors pretending to be fighters - THEY DON`T REALLY FIGHT!!

It wasn`t a coincidence the Rock ended up starring in the Mummy series you know - he`s an actor!!!!!

Well, duh. Of course he`s an actor. Anyway I don`t think these Ultimate Fighting things are staged. Pro wrestling is staged though....and it`s better.

Shabufala, the point of most martial arts is usually either to ensure one`s own safety or to completely destroy one`s opponent. Notice how the countries that developed have all had some sort of civil war that gave rise to these arts. Feudal Japan saw the creation of Bushido (lit. Way of the Warrior) and Karate ("fighting without weapons" or "fighting bare-handed"). Meanwhile, Ancient Chinese monks developed Wushu, lit. Martial Art. The history of the word Wushu can be traced even further back, so it could also mean "Method to stop a weapon". The point is, while these martial arts do lead the practitioner to inner peace, it depends on them to WANT to find it. Inner peace without fighting can be found with Yoga, for one, but martial arts were developed solely for ass-kickery.

    --History lesson over--

UFC is in in no way fake. I watched this fight live on pay per view and the guy knew to give the flying knee because a good friend of his previously fought this guy and lost. He knew his patterns and knew he would lead with his head down before going in to shoot or grapple. thats why at the beginning of the second round he went in with the flying knee. The UFC is in no way fake like the wrestling of the WWE or other such things. all the fighters are skilled in many forms of the martial arts and when compared to professional boxing is much safer. allowing a fighter to continue after a standing 8 count is what causes serious brain injuries and why many old boxers are vegetables. safety is a top concern for UFC. the healthier their fighters the longer they can continue to fight and exhibit their skills.

Wow! That was rad. Martial Arts is defending yourself in the quickest, most efficient and most effective way possible. This qualifies way beyond that; in fact, should serve as an example of the success of properly applying self-defense techniques. You can be as graceful as you want while you`re getting your ass kicked...

awesome. Who cares if some tae-bo-ho (thank you Nas) thinks his saturday afternoon karate class with middle-aged mothers of two is being desicrated by the UFC. The practice of martial arts can lead to enlightenment and "inner patience and peice(sic)". Mostly to better be in control of your body and its facilities to be a more effecient weapon. UFC is not a martial art in the same way that it is not boxing. It combines aspects and a backround in martial arts may come in handy in the octogon. UFC or full-contact fighting is it`s own animal. A ruthless gladitorial sport where I get to watch 2 men try and knock each other out by any means neccesary. Oh - and it is definatly NOT faked.

Some of us aren`t stupid enough to go and see this kind of rubbish. If I want to watch pretend fighting, I`ll rent Kill Bill. If I want to watch real fighting, I`ll go out on a Saturaday night to the city centre.

You`re naivity is sweet but you will thankfully grow out of it in time.

P.S Even if it was real, how exactly would it be entertaining? As it stands it`s pointless choreography, but if it were real, it would be mindless barbarism

I think the fight was rigged. if you look closely, you see there is no solid contact with his head, his right knee hits his shoulder. You dont even have to look to hard to see it. Also, he holds his arms up, and if he was really knocked out they would be flat, like the rest of him

You think these guys aren`t disciplined and dedicated to their craft? You`ve got to be kidding. Just because they use the martial forms does not mean they are abusing them. The UFC is full of talented fighters, most of which are experts in several forms of martial arts and fighting styles. Don`t badmouth what you don`t understand.

Im a streetfighter born and raised in New York. And i know Bullpoo when I see it. The first angle looked like it was killer, but all the other views it looked as if there was little contact. To knock someone out you need to connect solidly in the right place, I did not see that in this clip

People fail to realize that it is the left knee that hit not the right. and a knee to the head comes at you with a lot more force because of the muscles involved. (think about it you can kick something much further than you can throw it more often than not) Very clean knee. And for those who question the reality of it all. It is about as fixed as boxing is.

Take that where ever you want to go with it.
