There`s absolutely nothing invisible about that, it`s just a projection screen. Funny to see him make an ass of himself, though.

Hmmm at first I thought it was a projector, but if you look closley his skin and hands do not reflect anything. However my theory is that it might still need a form of projector or light to be cast onto the man, and therfore would not work anywhere.

Crux, out of curiousity on my part, is there any particular reason you capitalize every single word?

It looks like a projector to me. A real life invisibility cloak would be so cool though...

HELLOoooooo There`s no such thing as a "cloak of invisibility" Sorry to burst your bubble but there just isn`t. I don`t care if you had some kind of "invention day" or whatever at your school. This is fake, period. There is no need to have a long discussion about it being real, it`s not. I`m sorry but skin, muscle, fat, ribs, your heart, lungs, spine etc., do not just suddenly stop reflecting light just because you put on some cheesy Wal*Mart jacket.

I`m not exactly sure how he did it though. Perhaps he`s standing in front of a camera and that image is being played in real time on the TV monitor and the whole thing is being recorded.

Blast...Think before you type. No, it`s not a cloak of invisibility, duh. It just appears to be one. It takes the image behind him and projects it onto the part of the clothing that`s on the front of him. As to whether this video is real or not, I don`t care, but it is defenitly feasible.

I don`t know what they`ve done since I last saw a clip, but they had hundreds of cameras and lights on it to make it do that so even if you`re invisible I think the equipment might just give you away, just a small chance of being spotted lol

You know the little fibres you get in toys where the ends of the things change colour? It uses them as well as a camera to help project light. As it is not final, the images on it appear flat and not as colourful.

Apparently there are a bunch of people here who do not know the diference between REAL and ILLUSION. Now they want to call me an idiot etc. but it`s the other way around. Did some kid do a dance in front of some camera equipment while using some camera tricks? Yes. Is it REAL? No.

If it was real then it wouldn`t have to be doctored up with a bunch of equipment. Does it kind of look real? Yes, of course. That`s what illusions are designed to do, look real while not being so.

blast you really are an ignorant dumbass. Why don`t you stop and take the time to actually read the articles and think, got that think, about how this technology would work. Obviously you don`t understand it so it must be fake. Same thing happens when my great grandma accuses the computer of using witch craft. You are just entirely too incapable of understanding the concept of an image projected on someone to make them appear invisible. Thats right, it`s both real AND an illusion.

geez... it`s technology and it makes him APPEAR invisible when all of the right equipment is set up and the viewer is standing in the right place. No one is saying the jacket makes him really invisible. Th video captures what you would see if you were there. It was not doctored..but agian it`s a smoke and mirrors trick with sophisticated equipment. Why is that so hard to believe? morons.

Wait blast can u make urself a little more clear before I say anything about you? because I think your saying that a whole web page explaining how it works full of pics is not enough to make u realise that its a camera in the jacket projecting the image on the front. And no people its NOT a tv projector the part with his hands is still visible. And Im making sure you people know that it`s not a TV projector when they refer to PROJECTOR its PROJECTING the image on the cloth with a camera in the jacket. And when we refer to invisibility its always an illusion, it`s what you precieve. So, yeah, I dont know everything about it but dont act like you do.

there is something like this, and of cousre ther will never be a true invisibility cloak, only very good illusions. they might make a vest with millions of little cameras around it and screens on the opposite side of the cammera, so you can see whats on the other side. they have acctually made a cheaper version, and it is still pretty cool

ok. for you people arguing about it being real or fake, your both wrong. but you are bothe right. true, he is NOT truly invisible. humnas will never be that way, unless they are somehow chemicvally altered. second, this IS an illusion, and a relativley good one at that. so yes, the cloak is drating real, but the people who say it is not are right, because it in no way makes you invsible. everybody stop comlaining and get on with your lives.

Its amazing how no ones bothers to read anything anyone posts and simply sticks to their precoceived ideas of this being fake. Its real. No, it doesn`t chemically change your body to let light through or some Sci-fi bullpoo. It`s real technology. Here are some citations for all non-believers:

Also, for anyone of you who think this is just some simple effect made by projectors, did you notice that you could not see through his hands and face? Must be some special kind of projector.

Now that that`s cleared up, let this argument die already.

It is not fake, it is a idea that has been used for some time. Think of the movie predator, in that movie the predators suit worked by bending light, basically taking the image behind the person and plastering it on in the front and visa-versa. This technology is very real, though very young. You would not need to rearrange the molecules in the human body. For now we need cameras and projectors. The army is developing a suit that uses nanotechnology to power the suite, the suite can warp light around it with the use of thousand of miniscule projectors. Technology for this is way off but possible.

This is a prototype that uses a projector and camera tricks along with a specially designed fabric.

ok if you want to carry around a big camera and projector it`s real, go get yourselves a cloak of invisibility.
If you want to put on a jacket so people will see through you. Get a jacket and shoot yourself in the gut with a shotgun.

    it has plenty of uses

    think of the miliatary applications

I doubt anyone of these "its fake" morons knows how vision works.

Its rather real, and you guys are so rediculous lol

Invisibility is only an illusion, and so is sight.

its our mind understanding the world around us. Similar how a jet can be stealth from radar (signals bounce off not back to the location) radar is to stealth as vision is to optic camoflauge

    very similar

Its a cloak, camera, projector, etc...That what people are tryiing to say. It is not a self contained unit.

Optical camouflage delivers a similar experience to Harry Potter`s invisibility cloak, but using it requires a slightly more complicated arrangement. First, the person who wants to be invisible (let`s call her Person A) dons a garment that resembles a hooded raincoat. The garment is made of a special material that we`ll examine more closely in a moment. Next, an observer (Person B) stands before Person A at a specific location. At that location, instead of seeing Person A wearing a hooded raincoat, Person B sees right through the cloak, making Person A appear to be invisible. The photograph on the right below shows you what Person B would see. If Person B were viewing from a slightly different location, he would simply see Person A wearing a silver garment (left photograph below).

Of course it`s not an invisiblity cloak, it`s just named that because it sounds pretty cool and attracts attention.
It`s like captions to pictures where the captions are obviously fake.
Never the less, this is a good idea. It might get far within a few years =D

    Jesus folks...

I made an account just to respond to this damn squabble.

The demo video uses a camera directly behind the person to record the scene. A computer processes the information and refeeds it to a projector. This projector reflects the image off a partially transparent mirror and onto the coat. The coat itself is made of the same reflective material you see on utility workers` garments and stop signs to make them very brightly reflective under very little light. So the feeble image reflected by the partial mirror comes up comparatively bright on the material and doesn`t show up on anything else. That`s why you can`t see the image on anything not covered in the material. Chances are if you looked at someone standing in the area real close, you could see the rest of the projection.

Omega_ma, you`re awesome. blast0, I don`t know why you kept up your arguments.

I think it`s funny how you see posts like "its a green screen" and "it`s a fake" and notice how most of them are posted by kids. Read the other posts and articles before putting across your opinion. It`s bloody obvious how it works.
