please dont judge all british by what that idiot saidim so ashamedim sorry
By the way, I think it is very telling that the left is now relying on photoshop and cut-and-paste to attack Bush. This picture, and all the other similar ones on this site, are absolutely despicable.
Um, like it or not, this INCLUDES tossing round insults and accusations.
Although... the jew comment. Hope she was joking
The photo was funny, though
I do think Bush is a complete idiot though, dont get me wrong on that. But please, before you get on your high horse, please take time to read the posts.
Way to go.
HAHAHA mooseyfate! That last line made me laugh! :-)
"...a few million dollars, or whatever it is."Wow, that was a sadder comment than the picture itself.
I`m about as far as you can get from being a Bush supporter, but I really just didn`t think it was very funny. Kind of dumb.
I`m British and would like to say that desert rose does not represent how allus Brits feel!
I thought the picture was funny, as it may be a sore spot but throughout history whenever something majorly tragic has occured, we have always tried to make light of the situation, this IS NOT poking fun, and although I am against the Bush administration (as any good Bill Hicks Goat Child should be), I am not Anti-America as desert rose etc seems to be.
Yes, the government knew the New Orleans risk and should have prepared for it, they werent, but that cant be helped now, a tragedy has occurred and we should all pull together to help our fellow human beings! Most countries including Afganestan and Iran have also offered aid to the US, which was not asking for it.
End this America Vs Britain thing. It`s old.
First, Bush didn`t ask for help, we basically forced him to let us. We had planes ready to fly down with food, but he wouldn`t let us untill two days after the people began to starve.
Also, It is his fault he cut the funds. He let a fund for a bridge to a random island off the coast of Alaska because some government person owned it. But he couldn`t help protect his country?
And the states aren`t that rich, seeing as they go farther into debt every minute.
Theres my two cents :-)
Was I the only one that noticed the irony in that comment?
That`s all for now, I`m tired.
Desert rose: I want you to go down to the shelter I worked at on Sunday, I want you to see 39 people my church helped.
I want you to ask them who they blamed for the helicopter that lifted them off of their roof.
I want you to ask them who they blame for the C-130 who transported them to my town(San Antonio)
I want you to tell the man I met who had his feet in wet boots for 4 days and his feet had swollen beyond the ability to walk. Ask him who he wants to blame.
I wonder how my friends I made down there would view that picture? Funny? or sick?
Desert rose and the girl with the random assortment of numbers: If you are so quick to point out peoples imperfections and how poorly they handle things, then why do you not move to the US and try to change things
"People complain and complain about the weather, but never do anything about it" -Mark Twain
Is it not possible for you to become a world leader?
As for the "they sent guns before food" argument:First, I`m not sure this is entirely true (Is it possible you think the salvation army is a real army?). Half of you nimrods complain that the military enforcement was not fast enough, the other half complain they were to quick. So I guess you really don`t share a communal brain, you share 2 communal brains. But on to my point: How is it possible to get aid to these people with looters and riots? How can we save others if the savers need saving?
Desert_Rose, it is YOU who have it wrong. the U.S.A. did NOT ask for money, it simply accepted the generous donations from other countries. Also, the U.S. accepted more people to help with the disaster!
Look215, your ignorance is frightening. There have been over 2,000 deaths to date and the death toll continues to rise. Hurricane Katrina is far from being over. Search and rescue units find bodies. Money is not enough because there is a shortage of relief workers.
As for the picture, I believe feeling are still tender and this is not the time for political satire.
Well I say its time we took a lesson from out little brother Canada, or papa England, and make a couple reforms to our way of government that could prevent suc stupid people from getting into office.
Bush is NOT a good president at all. I`m glad other countries are helping us, though, because the damage down in New Orleans is horrible and I have no drating clue how the US can get all the money to fix us up. If other countries were in trouble like us and the tsunami victims, we`d help too...
Bush is an okay president, eh?
bandgeekaltosax • First president in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.• In his first two years in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs.• Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history.• Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market.• Cut the taxes of the wealthiest people in America (those making over $200,000 a year).• Members of Bush Administration are the richest administration in history.• First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in U.S. history.• Cut unemployment benefits for more out-of-work Americans than any president in U.S. history.• Dissolved more international treaties than any president in U.S. history.• Set the all-time record for biggest an
thechef-yours is lacking anything he did, calls he made and orders given between what they want you to hear.Bush is not going to go down there and rescue people that were stuck. Other than that I don`t get the point of it. It takes 2 minutes 2 pose with cake, what did he do the rest of the time?
it sums up everything everyone from the us and canada are saying.
It does however make me sick to think all these people lost their lives for something that could have been prevented whether it was by upgrading the levees or just plain not building a city in such a vulnerable location in the first place . Either way thousands of people are gone or no longer have the opprotunity argue about who`s fault it was over the internet. Just think about that.
ok now my opinions and such- we accepted the money as was said before the idiots are the ones who stayed in new orleans because they were "tough enough," not all americans this is what governments have money saved up for anyways no one is going to die from helping the US this war was unneccesary, however, that doesn`t make it evil bush has to go through a billion different commitees and the like to do anything himself most of the government mix-ups weren`t his fault in any way I thought the picture was funny I think everyon
and also. sting??! ahahhaahahah
and also, its nice of you to just say `i a gree with him of what he says` seems like the easy way out.
Maybe if this country comes together, we can get through crap like this when it happens instead of bashinthe President and everyone else. And yes, the people down there are taking advantage of the situation.
So there you go people, that is what I think, exactly what look215 says. WORD FOR WORD.
And enohead... I dont really care what you think about my musical tastes. Sting is rich, powerful and sexy - you`re not.
Oh, and enohead, I could have had a picture of anyone as my avatar and you would have said the same. Neither me, nor Sting will be kept up by any of these comments.
Im not the only person to think these things, and yet im villified. Meh, whatever.
Desert_rose, if you couldn`t care less what we all think, why are you still posting? Aren`t you supposed to ignore us?
Eh, desert_rose whatever helps you sleep at night bitch.
people are having to be forced to leave they`re homes because they just wont listen to reason. You just know these are the people who will catch disease and start `expecting` aid. People putting thier own (and, in some cases, their childrens) lives in danger i do not feel have the right to expect my money.
I am ashamed of america. Im very glad that i am not assosiated with that god-awful contry. Best thing to come out of it was Scrubs, IMO
everyone stop being so emo.
Funny picture, it did make me laugh, but then I felt bad for laughing. :(
Who is "they?" I certainly hope you don`t mean the American people as a whole. The intelligent among us wanted nothing to do with a war.
"Im not saying that a hurricane was your fault, im saying not preparing for it, when you KNOW full well its coming is your fault."
So it`s the people`s fault that the government did nothing to prepare for the hurricane? Keep in mind that the people living in the affected areas were used to hurricanes. It comes with living where they lived. This one just happened to be a huge bitch of a huricane. The biggest tragedy with this one is that the government response was so unoriganized.
So tell me... does it actually hurt to be so ignorant?
jtc970, go read the National Geographic article on IAB (and read other stuff too) and find out that one single state could not have afforded to make all those investments needed to protect the American Gulf States from floods. That`s why there is a national government too. The Bush administration never denied its responsibilities, but did make the mistake by cutting the wrong costs. So yes, Bush IS to be blamed too.
yeah, thats it, everyone get wound up
I can think what i like, sorry if its conroversial, but you`d be surprised how many think the same - even if they dont voice it.
You`re also right in that the US IS the richest and most powerful country. Seems to me your schadenfreude towards this incident really shows how jealous you are of what you percieve as their superiority.
I wouldn`t get caught up in resenting America`s superiority. Believe me, you have plenty to worry about in Hooligan`s Island instead. The US will be fine when this whole disaster gets cleared up.
I don`t quite understand why people insist on placing blame. "Something happened so now we have to blame someone for it and hold them for it, and make them PAY FOR IT!" When will people look at who to thank first? How can you blame someone for a natural disaster? I understand the government didn`t respond at the best capacity they could, but oddly enough they are human too, and aren`t perfect.
Desert Rose: What position do you hold in your federal goverment? I mean you obviously must be some sort of prime minister, or dictator for the UK to know for a fact that the USA begged for money from you. Judging from your posts you have some major inside info. btw: The UK offered us money, and we didn`t accept.
You say you like arguing, but you actually just like talking and don`t want to hear anything said to you.
I just couldnt care less.
It pleases me that Ive wound you up though... i love a good argument.
Its just p*ssing me off the way america just `expects` us to give them money and aid, after going on, celebrating independance day, from the UK and then at the first sign of trouble, its all `oh, save us!`
Tailand was different, these are some of the poorest people on the planet, and look how everyone pulled together to help out. And how they responded! That was a true testament to the good will and fight that exsists in people. What does America do? Bitch and moan about race and class then proceed to SHOOT they`re rescuers!
I do, of course, realise that there will be exceptions to this, people poor and forgotten, and my heart goes to them. I also understand that there is a lot of grief. BUT there is a lot of grief in a lot of places. What? Just because its america i should care mo
I think we should bomb the ocean for attacking us like that! >-(
jtc, i agree on the tasteless picture. and i don`t even like Bush.
I.A.B im ashamed you would use a tragedy where many people are STILL suffering for your political preference. This shows that any type of suffering will be exploited by the left. Just like blaming Bush for cutting funds to something a rich city can afford to do themselves. I dont think every state in the U.S. should have paid for them to reinforce their levees. Tourism and Gambling made the city enough money to protect itself.
look, i dont really care what people think about me, so calling me a `fool` and trying to appeal to a better side of me isnt going to work.
I am annoyed, because when we DO try to help, americans shoot at us! Whats that about?! Sorry, but this whole Katrina thing, I dont even view it as a tragedy. Its their own stupid faults. And they`re getting none of my money.
Bush surely has made some wrong decisions, but by saying that it is America`s own fault you really don`t show the best part of your character. This is about the lives of human beings, not about cans of milk.
Obviously, he has no idea what to do - you cant go to war with nature, although Im sure he`ll try.
If it WAS this contry, I think we`d be able to cope a hell of a lot better.
v funny, this whole Katrina thing annoys me, how dare america, one of the richest contries, come running to the Uk (and others) for money?! Wtf?
Seriously America, get a job! Spongers.
