I hate extremists, whether they are on the left or right. However, Michael Moore does have a point that the response time to the tragedy caused by Katrina is pretty pathetic.

I agree with him. But darnit I was trying to get this link on here! :( Oh well. There was another one that talked about how quick the Pres was to get to the Terry Schivo (or however its spelled) issue but he responded so slowly to the Hurricane incident:

Michael Moore does speak from experience. He himself almost suffered from starvation from going without food for a long period of time. He said it was the hardest 20 minutes of his life.

    Well said Mr. Moore.

It`s interesting that the only criticism people have levelled at him so far in this thread concerns his weight, and completely sidesteps everything he said in his letter.

Bush should have been impeached long, long ago. When will America start getting tired of him using their constitution as toilet paper?

Before you talk about Bush being "impeached", maybe worry first about him having been actively RE-ELECTED. Americans, not Bush himself anymore, crossed the line of irredeemability with that one.

Everyone of yall knows that...Granted I`m white..and i`m no wigger...but i mean come on..the media is biased...all the looting they show is just black people...I agree with Michael and Kanye West about all of this...Bush don`t care about black people...all he cares about down there is getting his oil rigs running again so he can make even more money...give me a break...this guy only cares about money and you can`t say any different.

First off, I doubt if that letter is from Moore. Second, if it is he is a proven liar. Third, let`s aim our fault at the local govmnt. They mayor of N.O. is totally incompetant. All he can do is pass the buck. After 9-11 Rudy G. (a real mayor) handeled just about everything himself.

Yes, it`s sad what has happened to my neighboring states. But New Orleans had plenty of time to prepare. Stop passing buck, stop blaming Bush.

I`m on neither side but here`s some pro-Bush statements to get yelled at for:
    1. in order to get impeached he has to have done something that actually breaks a law, maybe he`s come close, but he is still quite legal
    2. "all he cares about down there is getting his oil rigs running again so he can make even more money" he doesn`t get any money out of that, no doubt he gets some from Texas, but Louisiana, no, I live in South Carolina and gas is six bucks a gallon now because the pipeline isn`t working properly, it is sad what`s happening in New Orleans, but the gas problem is affecting everyone, it is top priority

The Kyoto agreement was an international bill that Bush didn`t sign... and now people bitch about it. Bush didn`t sign it because it would have hurt the economy and created less jobs... which people would have bitched about even more.

By the way, it`s the mayor`s and the governors job to prepare for state of emergency. People blame Bush every single thing that goes wrong in this country. Imagine if Bush had to handle everything that people bitch about... he wouldn`t be able to sleep to be able to handle it all. The U.S. is a federal government, meaning power is divided between the national and state governments. Blame the State Government of Louisiana for not being prepared... it`s more their fault than anybodies.

And damn right the medias biased. The only show black people so someone has a reason to lift a finger and point it at Bush. "Look on the TV, there`s only black people on it... Bush hates black people"... bullpoo.

Has anyone ever paid attention in school? Do you know the constitution. It says clearly that it is illegal for the federal government to step in unless the state asks for help. It is up to the governer to make that call, so if anyone has anything to say they need to look to him as to why it took him 3-4 days before he asked for help. Bush was all set to go, he just needed the go ahead from the governer. When all was said and done, Bush acted accordingly. Please people if you have something to say, brush up on your civics. As for Michael Moore, you can put a puppet in anyones hand and make it say what you want. It doesn`t make it true. But to each his own.

The entire situation in NO is screwed up completely, but I`m not one to completely blame one person. George Bush is not the complete reason thousands of people died and the situation is screwed. In fact, I don`t think he`s most of the problem, or a considerable fraction of it. The government, local, state, and federal, could do a lot better job overall. Any way to bash Bush, Moore always finds it.

Note: I agree that diferent opinions are needed in democracy to work. The problem is, however, when people lose sight of the lines between political opinion and outright punk-band influenced bashing-for-the-hell-of-it-because-I-hate-the-
    government attitude

"Last I heard, a democracy needs different opinions to work."

You don`t live in a democracy. You live in a republic.

If you lived in a democracy, then the fact that Bush`s approval ratings are similar to (and in some polls, lower than) Nixon during Watergate would actually have some kind of impact on the government.

Americans who support Bush are now a minority, but that means absolutely nothing to Bush, who will do as he pleases anyway.

I found this letter that was also written by Michael Moore:

    Hershey`s:

I understand the chaotic state our nation is in at the time. We are currently being led in this country of ours by an insincere and bullying president. While the gulf coast has looked into the eye of Katrina, I feel that we must do what is in our power to help aid the homeless and stranded. I am asking you to send me 100,000 Hershey bars in which I will solely distribute among the less fortunate. Of course, when I say solely, I mean I will b*tch and moan. When I say distribute, I mean that I will watch Larry King Live while devouring your chocolate goodness in my Kerry for President shirt. The XXXL one with the yellow pit stains. God, I love that man. Really I do. I wish I could devour his vanilla goodness if you know what I mean. Anyway, I am straying from the point here. We must aid our fellow man during this time.

BTW, pass this along to the CEO of Taco Bell for me.

    Thanks.
    Michael Moore

there has been alot of media coverage about how the american government has been "slow" aiding the people of New Orleans but what I really question is why didnt the Mayor of this disaster zone organize a full evacuation , I understand that they only found out a few days before about the path of the huricane was mapped I think there could have been alot that he could have done and others . It wasnt like bam OMG theres a huricane this was ploted and mapped I think alot could have been done to prepare for this. Instead of yelling and swearing on every news show I feel the government of New Orleans should take some ownership of the problem that has occured.

Imfao, the US is a democratic (the citizens vote), Federal(we have state and federal tiers of government, as opposed to a unitary system) Republic (representatives make policy and law) America`s system of representation is a republic. But election methods are democratic. But you can have a totalitarian republic where the one party decides who is each area`s rep, see the Peoples "republic" of North Korea. Representatives make policy, but the people only have only person to vote for in each district. So yes we are a democracy. Ans a democracy with only one party, or one legal political viewpoint is called an autocracy. They have had national elections for ruler in the USSR, still do in North Korea, heck even Hitler was up for reelection a few times. Having only one view point as you can see is dangerous. I challenge anyone to find one true democracy where there is only one political party. I tried to find one in my final thesis to get my political science degree.

DrewK, is this thread a microcosm of American political society? I don`t think it is. Just because most people that have posted so far are Bush bashers or Moore supporters doesn`t refute my statement of the necessity of a diverse range of political thought. That is like saying someone in a small, all white mid west town has no right to talk about diversity. Read Madison`s Federalist Paper number 10 sometime.

We start, then, with nothing, pure zero. But this is not the nothing of negation. For not means other than, and other is merely a synonym of the ordinal numeral second. As such it implies a first; while the present pure zero is prior to every first. The nothing of negation is the nothing of death, which comes second to, or after, everything. But this pure zero is the nothing of not having been born. There is no individual thing, no compulsion, outward nor inward, no law. It is the germinal nothing, in which the whole universe is involved or foreshadowed. As such, it is absolutely undefined and unlimited possibility -- boundless possibility. There is no compulsion and no law. It is boundless freedom.

I know.... im immature but seriously.... you know its funny. Oh yeah, you european let us worry about our president. You just worry about what ever it is you do. He wasn`t elected by a majority of the people the first time, and many americans dont really know our constitution, which is why stupid things like that happen. If Michael Moore is so right, why didn`t he run against George Bush for president? If George Bush is so wrong, why didn`t someone run against him at the last election, the majority of America could have spoken up and told George Bush they didn`t like him. Oh hang on, someone did and the majority of America endorsed George Bush.

If you must point a finger at someone as the cause of this tragedy, then point it at the governor of Louisiana. The state was slow to evacuate people from NO, then they were slow to send anyone in to help. I dont like Bush, but I still dont agree with what Michael Moore is saying. He hates Bush and will use any oppurtunity in front of him to ridicule Bush.

In the last election, it was completely John Kerry`s fault that Bush won. America was fed up with Bush, and Kerry should have been able to run away with it. Unfortunately, Kerry was a weak candidate and didnt run a very good campaign. Kerry deserves a swift kick in the ass. Its too bad that America is stuck with this partisan BS. The average is too damn stupid to learn about more than 2 candidates when choosing the president of their country. We seriously need to get rid of the two party system, because it is failing miserabley.

It`s really not a 2 party system, anyone can be elected, Perot almost made it.
I wish "Rock the vote" would tell people to get educated then vote instead of playing anti-republican propaganda all day then telling the kids to vote.

Back on topic: Bush is not perfect, no president ever was. The left has decided to create a war against republicans and bash the hell out of them for anything they did or may do. They decided to disagree with EVERYTHING whether it is good or bad for the country. They do this because it works. Drones will follow them as long as their picture is on T.V. or they are famous people listen, as if a rapper or film maker is more intelligent than them.

You american morons need a "reason" why Bush was re-elected? Don`t blame Kerry. Or vote-fixing, or celebrities, or mega-corporations, or the constitution(!?), or vote-fixing, or election theft, or the "left", or the "right", or whatever else your particular inbred american sociological programming trains you to blame, as long as it isn`t you. Well, news flash, idiots. Blame YOURSELVES. It has gotten so damn tiring to hear the endless excuses and bickering. Bush? YOUR fault. Period. Want to tout "democracy"? Well, it`s a double-edged sword, and it means people are responsible for the leaders they`re stupid enough to elect. Personally, I had no doubt at all that he`d be re-elected. And not for any other reason but that americans are brain-dead sheep.

Learn what everyone else in the world knows by default and take a modicum of accountability. Annoying excuse-seeking jerkoffs.

A little American racism from Africa.
I gues africans are sociologicly programmed to think Americans are inbred? Meanwhile Africa is suffering from 30% population infected with AIDS. Maybe they should be programming people not to have sex without education. You wanna call us inbred?
Bush was elected because the majority of the people wanted him elected despite the left wing media trying to get the uneducated to vote.

didn`t the mayor of no call for help on monday or tuesday. Also if i am not mistaken they did call for people to leave the city before the hurricane hit. I am sorry, but as much as i would to say that I would of left, I probably would of stayed in my house, hoping that i would of been able to ride it out. I think alot of people did that. Did any of you hear the mayor on no on the radio show. he was begging for help down there.

Anyone who believes Michael Moore is an idiot. Even he admits what he says is a load of crap.

Where`s the Coast Guard? The military choppers? Open your eyes? I can only guess he meant before the hurricane struck. Well played, send help before the devestation so the HELP ITSELF is devestated. If he meant after the hurricane struck, then yes, open your eyes, Moore. Move the fat clogging your vision if you still can`t see.

Man I hate Michael Moore. I don`t care if you do hate President Bush, you still shouldn`t listen to this fat windbag. He`s full of it. DEMOCRATS went to watch his movie and felt bad for Bush because of the way Moore smeared him with lies and utter crap.

Ignore his fat ugly self, maybe he`ll gorge himself to death and go out with 7 consecutive painful heart attacks.

fk> Go die. I voted for Bush. My reasoning still stands:

Name 1 reason Kerry was a candidate, one that is acceptable, and I will admit Bush is a worse candidate.

And most of you Leftist retards will come up with "BECAUSE HE ISN`T BUSH LOL!!!". Guess what? Sadaam Hussein isn`t Bush. Does that mean he`s a good candidate? No.

The problem with Kerry is that he`s full of it, just like most leftists. I don`t think that even the leftists could trust him because he kept flip-flopping.

It`s the people who decided to stay in their homes fault for what they are going through. They have know from the beginning of time that when NO was built if a Cat. 3 storm or greater ripped through there it would be underwater. You ask yourself what idiots would build a city surrounded by water? THE FRENCH!!! So whine all you want about Bush and put the all the blame on him, because it`s his fault rescue choppers are being shot at, it`s his fault people would rather stay and take whatever they can because their poor asses could never really afford it. Kanye West is a dumb ass and so is Moore and for the fact of the matter the majority of all the celebrities in America. They are always bitching about donate to this donate to that. Tell ya what why don`t you take your 30 million buck paycheck and put it to something better then that new Ferria outside or the house in the Hamptons. God Bless this country where idiots will praise morons. I`m Out

Michael Moore is a idiot, instead of writing a stupid letter, why don`t he try helping the people down there. Oh wait, he is probably working on another pooty movie, so he can make some money and eat McDonalds all day, god damn fatass. I don`t agree with everything Bush does, but I hate people like Michael Moore, if you really want to help America, don`t be a idiot and bash everything the current President does.

Many of the people stuck in NO didnt stay out of choice. They were poor, with no other mean of transportation other than their legs, and taking a walk during a hurricane probably isnt the brightest idea. NO was a poorly designed city that was destined to face a tragedy. The state of Louisiana is foolish for not being prepared for the inevitable.

I really hate to break it to you all, but there has never been a president in history that would have been able to organize aid and deploy military units overnight with the wave of a magic wand.
And using your already overactive imaginiations, picture this scenario:
"Sir? We really need to send aid to New Orleans."
    "Those jungle bunnies? F*ck `em."
    "Yes, sir."
"You bet. This will help my already waning approval rating. I mean, it would look good if I did everything I could, as soon as I could, but frankly I can`t get past the fact that those stinking, spear-chucking, coons are poor and I`m rich. They can all drown in the poo-water for all I care.
    "Yes, sir."

I never liked him before but if fk and silvernano are acurate examples of the world outside the US I think we do need a president willing to exterminate other peoples at will. I resent being called a dumb animal for voting for Bush when I didn`t. This just sounds like children that are angry because they don`t have the shinny toys we have.

I used like Moore. Roger & Me and Bowling for Columbine were fantastic documentaries. Unfortunately, Fahrenheit 911 was so rediculously biased and skewed that I lost any respect for him. And this letter is just beating a dead horse.

actaully in response to THMmilitia, bowling for columbine in the mock cartoon with the bullet. when he said that the year that the kkk was made a terrorist group and then the NRA sprung up is slightly distorted. although it is true that the NRA was created the same year the kkk was made illegle, it is infact the NRA that made the kkk a terrorist organization. im not saying in any way that i hate Michel Moore, i don`t, and as far as guns go i`ve never been a fan. it`s just that little thing always kinda bugged me and i thought i aught to bring it up somewhere.

Imfao, the US is a democratic (the citizens vote), Federal(we have state and federal tiers of government, as opposed to a unitary system) Republic (representatives make policy and law)
Wrong. America is a republic. The only true democracy was in Athens Greece where the people actually gathered around to solve the government`s problems. In America, we choose people who will do things for us. (hopefully good) If America was a true democracy, Bush would be in deeper poo.

DrewK is right on. Everything Michael Moore said in this letter has already been either proven false or proven to be true ABOUT THE GOVERNOR OF NEW ORLEANS. Moore is a pathological, proven liar. No one can provide decent proof that Bush EVER lied about Iraq, 9/11, or Katrina. Besides, if Moore`s movies were based in fact and Bush is an evil fascist like you liberal morons say he is, why didn`t the government censor or completely eliminate Fahrenheit 9/11? Hmm, maybe because they knew most people were smart enough to know it belongs in the fiction section...Anyway, to those of you who think Bush caused Katrina, you are unbelievably gullible and stupid. Even if he tried, Bush could not possibly affect the weather. It is impossible, short of blowing up nukes in the upper atmosphere. The LA Gov refused to evacuate NOLA for until it was too late, despite urgent calls from Bush to do so. On the race issue, the mayor of New Orleans is BLACK and he did nothing. Stop with the race BS.
