I live 3 states away from all of Louisiana, and we still got hit. It wasn`t a lot, but there is damage.

i live 2 hours from new orleans (west side) and we dealt with 50 mph winds and rain. New Orleans really did luck out on this one... Louisiana really needs to take better preparation. we have too many dumbasses in gov`t right now

God help New Orleans. Eight feet under sea level with a predicted 20 foot surge. The whole city is going to be underwater. Where am I going to go to Mardi Gras at?!?

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/08/2...

"So, imagine you`re the poor person who decides not to evacuate: Your house will disintegrate around you. The best you`ll be able to do is hang on to a light pole, and while you`re hanging on, the fire ants from all the mounds -- of which there is two per yard on average -- will clamber up that same pole. And, eventually, the fire ants will win."

Poor Americans. Mother nature doesn`t seem to like them very much. I`m waiting for the days where watching web cams is exactly like watching the tv.. This is too slow, and I`m too impatient!
