*But I agree with RckJmes in that I don`t think that 2 minutes of running would give him 30 mins talk time. It just doesn`t seem possible.

It might be possible if the cell phone has low enough power consumption.

*Also, I thought it was bad for a battery to be charged and then sit for a while and then charged again. I thought you were suppose to drain the battery fully before you recharge it again. This seems like it would drain the battery over time.

This is true of NiCd batteries. Most cell phones use Li ion or NiMh.

Yes, I`m lame. Don`t remind me.

he can`t just say 2 minutes running= 30 minutes of talk time. he didn`t include the speed which the hamster was running...which would determine the talk time.

I`m having a hard time determining which one is the hamster, they look related.

Maybe that is his sister.

If this is true, and he got a C, he was so gypped.

Very clever idea but "The teenage inventor was given a C for his project and has been awarded a D overall for the course."
Hahaha All that work for nothing! Poor kid

besides - 2 minutes on the wheel would not give you 30 minutes of charge time - the laws of physics don`t match.

You know, sarcasm can be funny but other times it just makes you look like a tool…

I think you miss the point of science fairs. They aren’t trade shows, it’s not like this guy is thinking about trying to sell these things. They are just organized activities where young people are encouraged to demonstrate their technical knowledge concerning any given area of science. In this case he just came up with a cute way to demonstrate an example of electrical engendering.

Yah, kind of a low grade for such a nifty idea. I mean a whole half hour on a two minute charge? That`s better than what I get when I plug mine into the wall!

He`ll even give the hamster one of those cellphones, so he can hear it from both ends.

His giving that rodent a seductive stare as to say...

"after my phones charged its you-me, a tube, and some lube"

Now all we need is a portable hamster. But serriously, that kid is like 15 and I saw a winnie the poow cellphone hooked up. Do the math, either way it`s gonna come up negative.

(and yeah, I know it`s probably just some spare cellphone that was sitting around, I just had to say that anyways)
