no. ben franklin originally came up with the idea. it was created to provide a more economical use of candles.

To all Canadians... Just because we might change are time does`nt really mean much to you. Spain and France both are light to around 12:00am. So that means if we change our clocks we will be on the same page as them. Plus to all you idiots who dont see how this works let me explain. We use at least 4 times as much energy at night as we do in the morning. So let me make out a chart...

Morning="-1"
Mid day="0" (Not effected)
Night="+4"

Total="+3"

Which means we will save a lot more energy then what we lose.

pretty dumb idea anyways because then america will pressure everyone to switch to there new time, and the space time continuum will rip, and god will be all like "no-no" and we`ll all be like "k". the end

I thought day light savings time was originally thought up in ancient greece because there isn`t exactly 24 hours in a day. Or am i befuddled and mixed up :-?

Well being in the northeast it sux when it gets dark before 4pm, so I wouldn`t mind the extra daylight. plus there isnt a whole lot of black ice in november and I used to get up for school in the dark what`s so bad with going to school in the dark. Finally Canada doesnt have to follow suit if it doesnt want to. Anyway I wouldnt mind it. Oh and I am seth, well a seth but that`s gotta count for something.

you`re no seth? obviouosly!

anyway, i think this is a good idea. i notice that *most* of the criticism is coming from canadians, so it won`t really cause to much difficulty for us. besides, a penny saved is a penny earned- right?

If this goes through I could imagine Seth MacFarlane making fun of it on FG! The family is on the couch watching the tv, then suddenly out of nowhere comes George Bush. George: You are all under arrest for not setting your clocks back! Peter: Holy crap! Meg: Hey, we are kids so you can`t arrest us. Bush: Buuuuuuuut, I can put you in juvie! Ha ha, so there! sticks out tounge. Peter: Ha ha, butt! George: Shut the heck up tubby! That`s 20 more years for all of you. Stewie zapes George. Family: Ummmmmmm.......uhhhhhhh......yay Stewie? Theme song starts.

If you lived in Canada, you would understand how much it sucks to drive on black ice (or any ice in that matter) for 8-9 straight months. Yeah, it sounds really corny, "oh no, by so called `saving energy` we will be driving on slippier roads!" But coming from the worst city to drive in Canada, it would be kinda a big deal here. And as corywebb pointed out that this daylight savings ordeal is a way to avoid energy laws, I shall call shenanigans on Bush.

This is simply ridiculous. I`m all for "saving energy", but this makes no sense. Sure, we`ll use less electricity in the evening, but we`ll just need to use it in the morning, because it will be darker at that time. I can see it now: "We`ve got to solve this energy crisis, but we don`t want to pass any new energy laws... how about we just change what time it is?"

Daylight saving time, as it is now, is completely and utterly obnoxious. The entire would should get rid of it, not change it.

this has got to be one of the worst ideas ever
if the us decides to go through on the plan then canada would be under pressure to follow from businesses and the like
but on november 25th in edmonton the sun wouldnt rise until 9:15
do any americans want to drive to school on roads covered in black ice?
