"Water does NOT reflect the sky for color. Water is blue because hydrogen has a blue color, hydrogen making up 66% of water, would make it blue."

I`m sorry could you get me a glass of BLUE WATER from your faucet, mine seems to be broken and it`s only giving me the clear stuff.

Blue ice comes from high frequency (blue) light having more energy than low and medium frequency light. Blue light has enough energy to avoid being absorbed by ice crystals . If ice is dense enough, lower frequency light is absorbed by ice crystals while high frequency light is allowed to pass through. If only blue light can pass through the ice and the rest is absorbed, all we see is blue. The reason we don`t see blue ice/snow all the time is because the ice/snow may not be dense enough. If there are air bubbles in the medium low, medium and high frequency light are all reflected giving off white rather than blue. Last I checked the ocean wasn`t dense ice. It`s blue because of the sky.

This is NOT a fake. The image was taken by the European Space Agency`s High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on board their Mars Express spacecraft. It was released 28 July 2005. Here is a link to the release and article on it:

Their quote on the colors:
"The colours are very close to natural, but the vertical relief is exaggerated three times."

Annnd here is a link on why water is blue:

Hmmm I believe there is water on Mars, but that blue color does not seem to match, then again there have been odder things in the universe.

I don`t think it`s fake, the ice caps on Mars consist of frozen water, right? Or are thought to consist of it at least...Maybe color was added, but I don`t think it`s fake or photoshopped.

BreadLover: the sky is blue because of all of the nitrogen in the outer atmosphere.

NASA has to add fake colour to the photograph anyway, so it`s easier too see.

...because the only reason OUR water is blue is because it reflects the color of the sky...which is blue because of the sun going through all the water vapory stuff in the atmosphere so having blue water on mars doesnt make sense to me.
