Since spiders bodies are a lot less complex than ours, they might not even have some of the receptors in their brains for these drugs to bind too. Therefore it may just be sort of a general toxicity test. They probably do have a serotonin receptor though, which is the one LSD bind too. LSD is actually very non-toxic and any talk of "brain damage" is complete and utter rubbish.

What would have been interesting was to give the spiders a cigarette, that would !#@$ them up worse than the caffeine will. They`ll either get cancer or become chain smokers.
