I think I`ll just read the book, not see the movie. It might spoil my view of the book.

i hate to admit it, but the movie was great. I didnt think it would be good cause i thought they would flub it up compare to the book, but i relly liked it. That litte robot was so cute if not a tad bit depressing.

The animation and song weren`t very good, but it was amusing if you know the joke. :-)

I loved this movie. Especially the free-falling whale. I could just imagine Bill Bailey`s face when he was doing that part... one eyebrow raised and a look that tells he`s been stoned since the 70`s.

I haven`t seen the movie yet. And yes, the tune is catchy. I think though, I`ll have to wait until it comes out on video to watch it since our pockets are threadbare.

Zaphod`s head and Marvin the Tonka toy - that`s all I was disappointed by.

But hey, it was written by Douglas Adams, he was involved with a lot of the movie (before he died, it`s been in production for AGES) and his children were also involved - in fact I think one of the characters is either his daughter or grandaughter. all i can say is, hate the movie if you want and stick to the books, but don`t slate Adams` work.

dolphins are funny

i was kinda annoyed at Zaphod`s second head being under his chin when i had always pictured it as him having two heads, side by side

I never compare a movie to the book it`s based on. There`s lots of things you can do in books that you can`t do in movies, and it doesn`t cost thousands of dollars to write a book. I look at an adapted movie on its own. And on its own this movie was pretty good.

I am pretty sure that the Douglas Adams books are the originals, and the BBC radio series and television miniseries were based off the books.

The movie was not ment to follow the book exactly, the movie is a differnt addaptation of the book. And the book was an addaptation of the BBC radio series

I was amazed at how close to the book it was. I was all prepared to hate it, but I loved it! No, it wasn`t perfect, but then again, what book adaptation is?? Was Lord of the Rings perfect? No. Harry Potter? No. ANY movie based off of a book is going to differ from it in one way or another. I`m amazed you people are complaining about it so much. Most of the lines were RIGHT OUT OF THE BOOK. Yes, the last 15 or so minutes was drastically changed, but personally I didn`t mind it. And the whole thing with going to the other planet before Magrathea was very different, and kind of bugged me at first, but it still wasn`t bad. Even though that exact scene wasn`t in the book, it was very much based of it. Hell, Douglas Adams even wrote in that priest character guy (the name escapes me)! They used bits and pieces from the 2nd book as well.

This is one of the most accurate book adaptations I`ve ever scene. It`s not perfect, nor will it ever be, but it`s still damn good so quit your bitching.

anyone who likes this move is an a$$hole - they took an EXCELLENT book and turned in into another piece of hollywood crap. and I can`t even believe critics are comparing this stupid f**king dolphin song to monty python`s "bright side of life"... ugh....

The movie was not THAT close to the book (and it was only based off the first one) but it was still good, and lets face it: the screenplay was written by Douglass Adams, its so flubbin amazing.

I don`t think I could stomach the movie. I heard they changed alot. Generally movies "baised off" a book turn out horribly, and this is a movie baised off 5 books.

lol! I loved this movie! My whole family went to see it twice, and the second time we all brought towels. This was my favorite song from the entire movie. (on a side note, this song was the beginning piece to the movie, except it had much better animation)

My and my mates actually brought towels to the first showing at our cinema, and my mate wore a dressing gown. We sat at the back though, so noone noticed.

hahaha xD I love this movie! :: very big douglas adams fan ::

everyone bring a towel with them on the eleventh to celebrate the life of adams (he died from a heart attack in a gym in santa barbara, CA in 2001 at the age of... 51 i think [either that or 49])
