Oh yeah... I dumped a forum onto my site dealing with The Game. Be sure to check there as well as here for hints if need be. People are slowly starting to use it.

Um... the actual software is an actual application (albeit an actual command line app...) It`s actually named, apparently, in the actual hint. How`s that for a bunch of actuals and some decent alliteration? And no, don`t read too much into this... the software name does not start with an "A"... I just got carried away. My appologies.

-- Possible SPOILER (trying to keep it clean) --

OsCornu, I have a question: Am I right in assuming the "SOFTWARE" (L3) is the perlscript (3 files)?

Because I can`t get it to run properly - it whines about some HTTP::Proxy module which I can`t get to install.

ok Got the right software, yet still can`t figure out the code. I`m stumped.

Uggh, I`m stuck on 3. I`ve gotten the clues, atleast I think I have. Though I`m not sure i`m using the right software and I`ve tried several. I have to be missing something here. Can anyone throw me another clue please?

OsCornu, great game man, I love this sort of stuff.

Ok, I found the name of the scientist and the year he died, but how the hell is that connected to the Caesar Salad dressing, Brute, "randomness" and how do I decrypt the encrypted data?!

Nope... sorry man, but the google search comes up same as it always has...

I`m guessing your google pagerank has messed up, but I can`t find anything remotely resembling what I`m looking for on a google search for the first level.

The site is down right now. I apparently screwed something up trying to fix something my hosting service had screwed up. So now, things are completely out of my hands until they fix it. Good news is I was trying to fix something in order to finish up Stage 2 of the game, which will be up soon! Well, relatively soon after they fix the site. I`ll post here when the site is fixed.

I want to thank everyone, by the way, who played. I know I can`t please everyone, and that some of you didn`t like it. But thanks for taking a look at least! And maybe Stage 2 will be better for you.

I can`t believe no one has solved this yet. I really didn`t think I made it that hard. Maybe it`s just too boring? Anyway, here are a few hints:
1. It`s just simple shifting.
2. Again, simple shifting with a different number, then "square" it.
3. Even though we use Domain Names, computers use an address. There`s something about that image.
4. It`s all about location, location, location. Simple encryption only by changing the way something is presented.
5. This one is deceptively simple. Which was the whole point. What you think I did is wrong, I`m not that smart! After decrypting, just count the lETtErS!

Hope that helps a bit more. Plus, watch for stage two, which will be a tad harder, but not so boring.

I think the 15^2 clue means to arrange the characters into a 15x15 grid, and read down the columns instead of along the rows, though I still can`t decode the message read this way, is it just a simple alphabet shift like in level 1?

ICK. That`s a nasty looking one. I`m not even going to try...I`ve just spent the last few days solving Mazito-2..I`m done trying to solve these things for a very long time. :-?

I`m stuck on the second one. I`ve worked out what the text says, but I can`t work out what it wants me to do. Any clues would be very much appreciated.

Okay... the glowing numbers, the lawn mower picture (yes, that`s from my lawn mower, which I should be using right now, but... nah.), and the BCEGK part are all related in some way. You apply that relation to the decrypted part. I hope I just didn`t give too much away, but that`s as vague as I can be but still try to be helpful. Sorry you didn`t like it Terrible... I hang my head in shame.

I figured out the easy part except for the first line`s meaning. I got the meaning of the BCEGK part, but don`t understand what to do with the glowing numbers. I found them on a website and played around with the software there, but can`t find meaning in it.

Did get the wink? Use it with the blatant spoiler from OsCornu in his last post. Also all plaintext must be read carefully.

*SPOILER*

If you want to know the last line on the first encryption it reads "you must use his last, and the year of his death to pass" as for the second encryption i still have no idea how to de-crypt it. I still dont get the use of 15^2 thing, so it equals 225 and there is 225 letters in the paragraph and 225 black blocks on the clue page but how does that help to de-crypt the message?

The four digit number IN the encryption is a date. It itself is not encrypted along with the letters, but is in a different way. (Related to the 15^2 part.) Hope that doesn`t give too much away, yet helps.

On the second encryption (the one under the picture of Newton) there is a 4 digit number, does anyone have any idea what that is for?

The second level, you may notice that there are 225 letters in the encryption... and 15 SQUARED = ?

Dude, just go to Google.com type in "randomness" and click "I`m Feeling Lucky." Then go find your cup of coffee but make sure it`s not to complicated.

the only one I know is to mean "to the power of" ie 15^2 meaning 15 squared = 225, as ZackS pointed out.

I have to admit, i`m pretty stuck on this one.

You might know the answer to the first encryption if it fell on your head.

Anyone figure out what 15^2 (225) means for the second?

Hey all... if you find any errors (I think I tested everything enough) or need anything else, let me know here or email me. I`ll be at work most of the day, but will be able to answer (or fix errors) later this evening.
