    Yeah. Who would want to live for a thousand years? Maybe like 150-250 years, but 1000!? No way!

    That`s pretty cool, but think about it, by the time we`ve perfected "immortality" we`ll probably have already thought of a way to make other planets habitable, so, no worries.

    I read somewhere a few years ago scienists predict that last person that will ever have to die from old age has been born already.

    Personally I would like to live for a 1000 years if possible..... depending on circumstances... the real crappy thing about this is that everything will cost more, instead of saving a year for a car you now have to save for half a decade.

    By definition, WE ARE BORED! Therefore we can`t figure out how to spend the next 10 minutes, let alone the next 1000 years. Believe me, if I havent figured it out in 22 years I doubt I ever will. And probably dont want to either.

    "I`m an engineer so therefore i think better then other scientists", I go to a school that has a pretty good engineering department and most of my friends are engineers and they take classes very similar to the science courses, so this guy is full of it.

    As for the aging thing, I personally dont think this guys going to come up with reasonable solutions but someone will extend our life to the point where we have very long lives and personally I dont want to live past 200.

    "The first part of the project is to get really impressive results in mice. The reason that’s important is because mice are sufficiently furry and people can identify with them."

    This has got to be a joke.

    Most of you are thinking about this in the wrong way.

    First of all you wont live 1000 years all at once. You live 1 year at a time. So think about it like this;

    I myself feel good this year and I dont feel like I want to die right now. If I feel the same way next year then I probably wont want to die then either. So aslong as you are Healthy in your mind and body. Then you probably will not want to die. You will just live 1 day at a time, 1 year at a time.

    You will still be able to retire, but it will be for say. 10 years. Then after that you may want to start a different career. Maybe you want to be a rock start for 20 years, then take a break and become a computer scientist.

    Productivity will go up, Older people will not be a burden on society as they will be healthy and active.

    Overpopulation:

    Of course its something we should address. But we will have time to. What we shouldnt do is halt all research into anti ageing. That would condemning future generations to death and not giving them a choice.

    Lets get the research done and have the tools in place. Then we can decide or future generations.

    This goes against all the rules of nature. If this happens, it will disturb the natural process so much, we`d see evolution happen before our eyes. And there is no way a human mind could have the capacity to remember more than a hundred years worth of memories. It`d be like living several lives and people wouldn`t even know what it`s like to be a child. Everything we know about psycology will be void. Does anybody have any idea the possibilties of this causing insanity? I mean, just the pure feeling of de ja vu all the time would be enough to drive anybody mad. Plus we`d all experience the appocolypse. And all of our natural resources would be used up due to the huge population.

    Did you know? Two scientists have a bet going on whether or not someone born in 2000 will still be alive in 2150. They each put 150 dollars in a bank, and the winner`s heirs will get the end payoff, estimated to be around 500 million smackaroonies. ;-()
