mmmm, i heard that there where color pictures back then but EXTREMELY RARE and only shot in "peacefull situations" since they where expensive, etc. can someone please explain to me how they got so many, expecially the americans. But it deffinetely seems that the men posed for the shot. I havent found an action shot yet.

there is actually another link to color photographs in WW2 on this site. but only with the french.

"Unfortunately, when WWII came along, color photography was still a novelty. The first batches of color film from Kodak were hard to find, leaving combat and civilian photographers with little choice but to record events in black and white.

Despite these shortcomings, photographic color technology improved throughout the 1940s and a generous number of people did record the events of WWII on colored film. Many intelligence agencies saw the value of color and therefore classified and censored many of the photos during the war years. "

    Inter, read...

They had something like this, except they took black and white photos and digitally re-colored them pixel by pixel. These ones aren`t as cool... they seem kinda computer generated.

But they look very fake. Also, I see some pixel disturbances around the people. Skeptical...

Even if they are re-touched/photoshopped, I don`t think the site is trying to rewrite history. The photos are just there for interest`s sake. Shame that some great photos are followed by comments that quickly descend into tub-thumping "we are better than you" posturing.
