My husband (who leads a Christian gamers community online) gets so frustrated with stuff like this.

If you feel like you shouldn`t be playing it, don`t. If you`re not convicted, then it`s probably nothing to be worrying about it. Sigh.

"That is all well and good. But it will also take you to hell faster than a greased demon on roller skates."

That`s a really great analogy, but some of the other comparisons that he makes, such as likening D&D to Russian Roulette, are pretty stupid. D&D creates a universe without God in the biblical sense. Ok. So does Candyland. I don`t see any articles about how Candyland is corrupting our children. Why not?

The whole notion that D&D is at least partly to blame for the uprising in wicca and occult beliefs in the 70`s is rediculous. There are other factors to that situation that the writer of this article is missing entirely...

It`s like saying that since the ammount of music people listen to is on the uprise...and crime is on the uprise...we can conclude that the ammount of music someone listens to is directly proportional to how much crime they commit..which is absurd to say the least...

people really need to just pull their head out and stop using religion as an excuse for being ignorant

I`m sure I could find a ton of teenagers who go to sunday school every week and use foul abrassive language, therfore going to Sunday School makes you cuss

"However, you need to realize that quite often, players will pick an alignment that is more evil or chaotic because it is more "intriguing." This is much the same as why many talented actors would rather play villains. "

The bible would be really really dull without any villians

This article comes from the famous www.chick.com It is mainly famous for the many little comic books (tracts) you can order...the point being to leave them around town so people can read them to become saved.

Check out the tracts (ls of home page). They show just about anyone who doesn`t exactly follow the author`s beliefs being unceremoniously chucked into eternal hellfire by by a very pissed off Heavenly Father.

The message being, if your gay, muslim, catholic, jewish, a rock musician, a trick-or-treater, a D&D player, a buddhist, or even a christian not involved in the daily fight for souls....boy are you gonna get it when yer dead!

ooooooooooooh boy. Allright I am a Christian through and through, I follow the bible as best I can and this guy litterally makes me sick to my stomach. I honestly find it impossible to believe this guy has done any good through his hate filled ramblings. He is a terrible representation of a Christian, and alot of what he says is crap, and how he says it is even worse.
    On behalf of the Christian population... please realise this guy is a moron ^_^;

Christians should also refrain from listening to music with lyrics, doing the macarena (its based on an old pagan sun dance!), and breathing air outside of a church.

I agree with this man. Not because of his sick, twisted, bigoted view of Christianity, but that D&D sucks and should not be played by ayone. Yes, I`m kidding. I wouldn`t play it myself, but the idea that playing a harmless game will tick God off so much that he will send an otherwise God-serving Christian into the fiery pools of... stuff in Hell for eternity. Stuff like this makes me feel bad about being a Christian teen. "Prophets" who write this libel makes me look like a close-minded rooster for being a Christian. I can`t remember the last time I really prayed, but I seem to have this CRAZY idea that God accepts good people of all religions and backgrounds, not just Catholic-born WASPs. And for those offended, please call 1-800-7BITE-ME.

Ok...being wiccan isn`t bad, it`s just like a different religion, like being Muslim or Protestant or something...so what`s the problem? And saying that playing a game turns you "satanic" is silly! ONly very very very weak minded people are suspecible to that...

Ah, yes, the infamous Jack T. Chick. If Christianity really revolved around his view of things, I`d be going to Hell at least 20 times over.

Though I will admit, as someone who owns the three core AD&D 3rd edition rulebooks, I can say after reading Chick`s garbage that he really did his homework, having at the least thumbed through the 3rd edition Player`s Handbook.

And oddly enough, though I own the three AD&D core rulebooks, I`ve never partaken in activities such as worshipping Satan or sacrificing virgins to pagan gods or hanging myself for letting my in-game character die or stuff like that. And as far as I know, none of my nerd friends did either.

Anyway, it would be nice to shut these modern-day puritans like Jack Chick and Fred Phelps (Mr. "God Hates Fags") up, but that wouldn`t be very Christian of us, would it?

D&D is just a much more complicated board game or video game. The differences are purely in scale.

I wouldn`t go so far as to say that "Christians" on the whole are stupid. The Christian in question (CIQ for short), i.e. Jack Chick, is perhaps a little off, though.

For those of you who don`t know much about the Christian religion, going to heaven is more about a trust you have in Jesus. There`s stuff that goes along naturally, but it`s believed you should want to do this stuff anyways when you`re "saved." Trying to give a breif summary without trying to convert you all ;)

Anyways, this guy obviousely doesn`t know his stuff about Christianity if he thinks that god sends people straight to hell for playing a game. Christians believe that you go to hell for not believing that Jesus died for your sins - not because you played a game.

D and D is more than just a glorified video game or board game.

Most rpg video games these days are based on the old D and D style. D and D has been out since the 70s.

I can`t believe there is still such an issue with this game.! I remember when it was really popular and we were told what a sin it was etc that was a long time ago. It`s now 2005 and some still have issues with this game? I guess some will never change and still use religion to get what they want.

It`s scary.I hate articles of the sort.He really believes that the only faith is christianity(and most probably catholicism to be precise)and that if you don`t believe in that,or believe in something else you don`t even deserve to be human. That`s the feeling I get..
And of course the clerics in D&D aren`t catholic priests. They`re not supposed to be!Why on earth would the creators of a game base it on a bible. They could possibly use it as a base for vilains and murder.(I have nothing against christians, as long as they don`t try to oblige me to believe. So don`t take it badly if you are christian, please)

And yes, druids are the "priests" of the pagan era. but what is wrong with that? There is no proof that they did sacrifices or anything of the sort.Just leaders, someone that people could trust.
I don`t know of any D&D players that have been fouly perversed by the playing of the game.Unless you call having friends and bf/gf being perversed..
    I wish that peopl
