Link: The Mouse Odometer - Face it, you know you work on your computer too much - but how much?

Mouse Odometer is a free mouse tracking program. It tells you how far your mouse goes, how many keys you`ve pressed, and how many mouse clicks you`ve had for every application you use. Kind of neat!

Firefox rules!! *cough* Yeah, it`s pretty cool. Utterly useless, but pretty cool. I`m wondering if this info isn`t also sent back if you know what I mean. But I haven`t gotten any pop-ups, nor has my computer gotten slow or buggy, so I`d say it`s safe, and non-spyware inflicted.

I ran a spyware check via Spybot, which rules, and nothing came back, so I dunno. But think about it... it has to have some sort of tracking software, doesn`t it?

Yes, spybot is cool.... its AMAZING what you find.

Yeah, it has tracking software, the question is just whether they get the info back or not. Looks can be decieving, but this program REALLY just looks innocent.

I think if someone was spyware-ing and stealing this info... well.

Hacker: OMG AKITO CLICKED 400 TIMES TODAY

    Hacker2: OMG ALERT THE MEDIA

...Doesn`t seem like that vital of information.

it records what programs you use and stuff. plus... it could be collecting info u don`t know about. Besides a privacy breech, spyware slows your computer and uses up disk space and memory. Also causes a lot of crashes and hijacked browsers. But... i dont think this is spyware

The most dangerous type would be a keylogger, but those are pretty rare. In the thousands - seriously, thousands - of spyware-type items I`ve removed from our two computers, we`ve never had a keylogger.

Forgot to say...if you download something called WinPatrol, it shows you programs that are running, programs that are added to the startup menu, IE helpers, etc. It doesn`t delete spyware, but it alerts you when your computer settings are changed or new programs are added to the startup list. It also alerts you when your homepage is changed and gives you the option to switch it back automatically. Very helpful.
