lmao. guess what yall, that chlorine and rubbing alcohol is one hell of a mix. I found this site after I mixed the two and had the bottle blow up in my hand. ::counts fingers:: still all there :) It made a fizzle noise as I was tightening it and next thing you know, BOOM. All that happened was I got a small cut on my finger and I was covered head to toe in crushed chlorine tablet powder :) It was quite amusing and I will do it again, just gotta buy some more rubbing alcohol:D

Pretty good. Still going over Organic Chem because our normal Chem teacher sucks so we`re having to learn what he SHOULD have taught us.

Had no clue that most were botanists; no, didn`t know much about it in the first place. :-P

yeah, I talked to thistle, mallet, and basically you get some hydrogen gas produced.

How`s AP bio going?

We`re about to hit plants pretty hard.

You know most of the writers of the AP exam are botanist?

Did you hear about the changes to the test this year?

Three idiot kids pour rubbing alcohol and chlorine into a plastic bottle and shake it. It explodes as the kid is shaking it in his hand. The camera goes down, so we can`t see the condition of anyone after the explosion.

I`m still doubting it was a big enough explosion to injure his hand very badly on its own. I asked my AP Bio teacher about it and she said that if it was rubbing alcohol and chlorine, then a bleach-type (forgot what she exactly said) formula would have resulted when in exploded, causing serious chemical burns, especially to the eyes and likely even in their throats if inhaled.

Hmm... I`ll have to ask my AP Bio teacher about this tomorrow. We`re going over organic chemistry right now anyway.
As far as I know, though, all three of them are going to have serious chemical burns...

Yikes, was that kid`s hand blown off? Heh heh, word of advice, if you`re in your chlorine-filled swimming people, be careful if you`re having a beer! :-)

Interesting. I wish I had my chemistry book--I don`t recall what the reaction mechanism would be.
